I have recently purchased the archer c64 for home, to host files locally for development purposes, I checked the lan speed (transferring files from one pc to another) very crucial for me, i has a gigabit bandwidth as expected with Ethernet connection, but when connected through WiFi It's top speed is only 450 Mbps bandwidth, one pc (client) with Intel ax200 2.4Gbps full duplex) and other the server (connected via Ethernet). But the spec sheet says 866mbps full duplex, i tried all 5ghz 2.4ghz, messing around the wireless modes... 

 

Or is it just this the max this device can handle......

Hi,

 

Yes, this is approximately the maximum real-world speed you can achieve with any wireless router that is rated at 866 Mbps, not just the Archer C64.

 

As a general rule of thumb, when dealing with Wi-Fi equipment one should assume the practically achievable wireless speed to be half of the rated speed (or call it specified speed or advertised speed, if you wish). Sometimes real-world speeds may turn out to be somewhat higher than the 50% (up to 65% in certain cases), but if that was the case it should be seen as a nice bonus and not taken for granted.

If that's the case under what condition is rated speed viable and if not, why are they rated at such speeds (isnot it false advertising?)

All vendors are rating their wireless product speed under 802.11 standard so the customer could compare different products speed.

This rated speed can't be achieved in reality because of the Wi-Fi communication nature (half-duplex) - check this video for more details.
