Intro: Recent update to XE75 PRO not showing on the Deco app. Here's what I did to get up and running!


Model: Deco XE75 PRO

Hardware Version: V1.6 - US

Firmware Version: 1.2.1

 

I upgraded from an XE60 to the XE75 PRO to find out that I lost features on the new device. I was about to return the new one since the Deco app showed it was on the latest firmware. However when checking the TP-link product support page I noticed there was an update on 06-16-2023 that the Deco app is not showing. 
 

I located my model number and version and followed the steps to manually upgrade the Deco via a computer (web-login). 
 

The upgrade took two minutes and it works great, all the new features have been added like being able to create an ioT network and selecting the preferred connection per device. 
 

If you don't see the new firmware on the Deco app go here: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/deco-xe75-pro/ 

 

*Make sure you select the right model and version and carefully follow all upgrade instructions!

 

New Features/Enhancements:
1. Support for customizing Satellite Deco signal source.
2. Support for customizing Clients connection preference.
3. Support for Reboot Schedule.
4. Support for NO-IP and DynDNS.
5. Support for setting Effective Time and Bandwidth Limit for guest network.
6. Added Smart DHCP switch under Access Point mode.
7. Added an alert in the App when the main Deco and modem negotiation speed is only 10/100Mbps.
8. Added VPN server/client features, including Open VPN, L2TP VPN and PPTP VPN.
9. Added the static route function.
10. Added the ability to customize the MTU.
11. Added IOT network function.
12. Added configuration via DS-Lite.
13. Added SafeSearch function and Youtube Restrict function in the Homeshield.
14. Optimized the Homeshield function.
15. Added OFDMA/MU_MIMO switch.
16. Improved system stability.

  @Brxstatic Do we know what "Added OFDMA/MU_MIMO switch" means exactly? Is this something happening passively in the background? Or is there something in the app we should enable?

@IcarusTwo It was turned off by default. I don't have much knowledge of this feature and how it functions.

 

If supported by your Deco model, you will see it in the advance menu.

  @IcarusTwo What Deco model number and importantly what verison of that model number do you have? ( i.e v1, v1.60, v2 etc?)

No idea why they're different versions of the same model.

 

Can you send a picture of the firmware page that you are on? I want to compare it to what i have since we have the same model and version.

  @Brxstatic Sure. So, where in the app did you find the new MU-MIMU switch exactly? Your screenshot just shows the feature in isolation- where are you when you hit back? Advanced settings like my screenshot?

@IcarusTwo The firmware looks right. I would reboot the system, uninstall the app and reinstall the app on your phone. If it does not work I would reach out to TP-Link support.
