My range extender connects to the main network at the initial setup but as soon as I try and connect once the device is setup it first has not internet connection and then the ssid disappears from my available networks page and i have to start the process all over again.

Hi, may I know if the SSID of the extender is the same as your router or not? For troubleshooting purpose, it is recommanded to use different SSIDs.

 

In addition, when the issue happens, may I know the LED status of the extender? 

 

Please also check the hardware and firmware version of your TL-WA850RE.
