Model: RE450
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 1.0.12 build 220908 Rel.64762n

I am using RE450 extender, the signal is great and the internet is stable. But the extender would reboot randomly causing the connection to drop.

Hi, thanks for posting on TP-Link Community.

1. Is there any trigger that will cause the extender reboot automatically? and how often does it usually happen?

2. Please try different wall sockets to plug the extender

3. When did you purchase the extender? the issue started since the purchase or just recently?

In addition, please download the latest firmware from the website below and update it via the extender web interface:

  @Sunshine

1. I dont have anything that would trigger it to reboot. No reboot schedules or anything. It happens every few hours.

2.i tried a different wall socket i got the same result.

3. I purchased the extender about a week ago and ive been facing the problem ever since.

I have updated the router to 1.0.20 build 230213

Please let us know if the problem still exists after updating the firmware, if so, please also try to turn off DHCP Server on the extender to see if it helps.

  @Sunshine after the update it rebooted on the same day. But it has been a few days and it didnt reboot randomly. I have not tried turning off dhcp server, should i turn it off just in case or only try it if the problem persisted?

  @Lem123 after turning it off it rebooted twice. But i dont think that is the problem. I noticed the extender is hot so that might be the cause. Even though i dont turn it on for that long, max 3-5 hours.

Hi, in that case, it is recommanded to contact the retailer to check warranty and get a replacement, please let us know if a replacement resolves the issue or not.
