Model: Archer VR2800
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

We recently moved house and set up an NBN account with Aussie Broadband. We bought the Archer VR2800 as it was highly recommended and it has worked perfectly for the past 3 months. Great speeds, very few if any drop outs. Excellent stability.

Yesterday we took up an offer with More Telecom NBN through the CBA. Our plan is basically the same as the Aussie Brodband plan for speed and unlimited data.

Last night while streaming T.V. it was almost unwatchable. Buffering every 6 or 7 minutes, completely dropping out several times all within a 26 minute show!
We also found that while trying to do speedtests on several occasions that we couldn't even do that.

This is definitely not my area of expertise but if our service had been excellent previously then it's not the hardware and it's not the infrastructure so it must be the ISP?

Is there anything that I can do with the hardware to try and improve the service or am I stuck with it unless I change provider?

Thanks.

  @Matt_72

Hi, may I know if the TV is connected via Ethernet cable or via Wi-Fi? and when the TV buffers a lot, is there any changes on the LED status of the VR2800? or are the other client devices still connected to the internet or not?

If the TV is connected via Wi-Fi, please make sure it is on the 5GHz WiFi instead of 2.4GHz if the TV supports 5GHz WiFi, because usually 2.4GHz might have too much wireless interference. If you are not sure which is 2.4GHz and which is 5GHz WiFi, check your WiFi settings on the VR2800 web interface please:

If the problem still exists, please share with us screenshots of the whole Advanced->Status page including the top Internet part and also the bottom DSL part.

By the way, what is the hardware and firmware version of your VR2800? and did you contact the service provider to check the line on their end?

  @Sunshine Thanks so much for the reply. I have a few answers to your questions but not all of them.

The T.V. is connected via an Ethernet cable. I haven't checked the LED status on the VR2800 when the issues arise but I will have a look later on today.

I'll also check the hardware and firmware version when i am home.

In terms of the service provider checking the line as I said in my original post we have been in this house for 3 or 4 months with the same line and the same hardware without issue. The day we changed service providers is the day the issue began which is what lead me to believe that they simply aren't paying for as much capacity as they require during peak times.
