Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.4 Build 20230317 rel.61293(4555)

Hello there,

I have setup my brand new WiFi router. I have tested the Internet access speed from WiFi 300Mbps which is expected.

I have tested a file copy between a PC connected to the WiFi and a NAS Linux server which is connected to the Ethernet. The transfer rate is 100Mbps despite the negotiated speed on the Linux server is 1G. I have tried different UTP cables no change. All cables were Cat 7, Cat6e etc.

What's the solution for this issue?

Many thanks,

L.

Hello @lpeter

Thank you for reaching out to us and welcome to the TP-Link community.

How about the wireless link speed on the Windows PC when it is connected to the AX73 wireless network? You may follow this guide to find it out. Make sure the link speed on the computer is good enough to establish a good and stable connection.

How about the wired transfer speed between the computer and the NAS server? Is it possible to have a simple test?

  @Kevin_Z the Wifi link speed is 4-500Mbps, wired to wired connection speed is 29Mbyte/sec which is fine. The problem is between Wifi & a wired connection that's only 100Mbps.

  @Kevin_Z an update would be great, how can I solve the performance issue?

What kind of Wi-Fi adapter you are using on the PC? It seems the Wi-Fi link speed is not as good as expected. Is it connected to the 5G network?

Please check and update the driver for the Wi-Fi adapter to the latest version, and try modifying the 5G wireless settings on the AX73 to get the optimal performance, such as choosing a clear channel, and changing the channel width to 80MHz or 160MHz.

If possible, please also test with another wireless client to observe if it can get a better transfer rate.

  @Kevin_Z

All my WiFi adapters works fine, 4-500Mbps is more then enough to provide higher transfer speed than 100Mbps.

Just to repeat myself:

- WHEN I TEST THE INTERNET ACCESS SPEED FROM A WIFI DEVICE I CAN MEASURE 300MBPS !

- WHEN I TEST TRANSFER SPEED BETWEEN WIRED RJ45 AND A WIFI DEVICE I CAN REACH ONLY 100MBPS.

HOW CAN I FIX THE ABOVE?

Are you saying This new TP Link router is not able to handle higher speeds than 100Mbps? This is very disappointing!

IEEE 802.3ab standard, ratified in 1999, defines Gigabit Ethernet transmission over twisted pair (UTP).

Are you saying that after 24 years the 1Gbps standard introduced .A new TP Link WiFi router is not able to transfer 1Gbps between WiFi & Ethernet interfaces?

Could you answer this please?

@lpeter

No, I never said this router is not able to handle higher speeds than 100Mbps, I just said the wireless link speed between your wireless computer and the router is not very good. But if you say you can get a speed of 300Mbps when testing the wireless speed, that could be ok.

To address the issue and try to fix it efficiently, we would like to have a specialist look into this further via email. Please check your mailbox later, and let us know if the issue is resolved. Thank you!
