Model: TL-PA4010
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version:

Hello,

first of all i don't talk english very well so i apologyze if i write something wrong.

I have a problem with download speed of the av600, on speedtest by Ookla i got 37.65mbps download and 43.45 on upload.

I recently got a new wi fi router that goes up to 1000mbps, i thought that the problem was the location because there is a room between the router and my pc but then i realized these powerlines use electrical wiring to communicate.

The wiring path is pretty long, i think is 20 meters or more, but it shouldn't be a problem since the maximum is 300 meters.

I laso tried to troubleshoot the powerlines from the firmware, changed their position a little bit but nothing really helped, so i am here to ask help to you since i don't know what else i can do.

Hi, please download and install tpPLC utility on your computer, then connect the computer to your powerline adapter, you will be able to check the powerline rate between the two powerline adapters. Please let us know the powerline rate.

Besides, the Ethernet ports on TL-PA4010KIT is 100Mbps port, so the actual internet speed will not be higher than 100Mbps, if your router actual speed can reach 1000Mbps, you might need to upgrade your powerline adapters, such as TL-PA9020P KIT etc.

@Sunshine Thank you for your reply, the powerline rate variates between 89 and 122 mbps.

Also i don't understand why you say the max ethernet speed is 100mbs, shouldn't be 600? I checked and it should go up to 600mbps like the name av600 suggests.

Since powerline rate is usually 89-122Mbps, the actual internet speed around 40Mbps is normal, because usually actual internet speed is about 30% of the powerline rate.

In addition, AV600 means the maximum powerline rate is 600Mbps, which is not actual internet speed, and in real environment, the powerline rate will be less depending on powerline interference, such as 200+Mbps or even your 89-122Mbps.

Plus it has only an Ethernet port of 10/100Mbps, the actual internet speed will not be higher than 100Mbps.

For more information about powerline rate and actual speed, please refer to: Explanation about the Powerline Rate and Actual speed of the Powerline Adapters
