I have the following 2 questions on my new purchase;

 

1. I don't see a hardware version anywhere on the device and/or app, so how do I find that?   I do the box that says US v1.6.  Considering the versions goto v8, I dont think that is is.

2. App services.  I see some screenshots with the app showing "test internet speed" or something, etc. I don't see that.

 

I am replacing a business type Unifi system and looking for options like openVPN (which I see in 1.2) but trying to figure out what I have, etc. as under advanced there is no VPN section.

  @j0k3r if your deco app isnt allowing you to upgrade to 1.2.1 for your US/v1.6 then you can download it from here

 

https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/deco-xe75/v1.60/#Firmware

 

and upgrade your decos via the web gui - go to one of the IPs of your decos e.g. mine is http://192.168.1.1 and login with your tplink password and got to advanced -> system -> firmware upgrade

 

try clicking check for firmware here. if you are still not offered it then download the firmware from the above link and offer the file to the web gui

So it looks like those features are in XE75 firmware v1.2.1 which is available for US hardware models v1 and v1.6 - if your box says v1.6 then you likely have v1.6. On the bottom of any of your decos you should have a hardware version number. Mine is at the end of the serial number mine says EU/1.0 - i would expect yours says US/1.6 ?

 

I also have a similar question - mine is a EU model v1 and since the US model v1 has the 1.2.1 firmware update available, when does the EU version get it?

 

I just bought these (upgraded my X50 which had these features). The XE75 shows it has these features already on the comparison pages which is why i bought them. But it looks like that is a bit premature as its not actually available yet? Which is frustrating!

 

Can anyone confirm when the XE75 EU will get these these features released before I send them back as its false advertising. At least say *coming soon* on the feature page.

Yep, mine ends with a US/1.6

 

I am trying to find the feature(s) page for the US, and ironically have this FAQ - https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/2423/ which says to goto the deco page, and click the compare, but that page doesn't have a compare button (someone needs to update some documentation)!

I agree a return is in order if they don't provide what is being told, since these are still new, I will also try the "support" route and see what I find and report here if anything!

you should be able to upgrade yours to firmware 1.2.1 as you have a US/1.6 version. what happens when you go to deco app -> more -> system -> update?

  @dlfranks - From the app it did show I was at the lastest, but that URL / download did allow me to upgrade and now all 3 devices are running 1.2.1.

 

The app doesnt show the speed test that I saw in another post, however does include the VPN server/client and the other features mentioned.  I am not sure on the HomeShield feature as I don't have that service (yet) but that is a big thing I would like, I have 2 kids and I set one up in a parental control group with his desktop and phone.  This morning it showed 3 1/2 hours online, but the top "websites" were icloud and life360 (so I am thinking its watching the basic sync stuff).

 

I am hoping with the free and/or paid I can see real online time (not sync things) and traffic/service, so I can see oh for 2 hours he was on YouTube, 1 hour surfing, etc. and just not just the phone was online (as I don't think he was going to bed at 3:30am)

 

But we will see ...

Hi, the same 1.2.x firmware will be released in EN/UK sites as well.

Since this new 1.2.1 firmware was just released several days ago, not all users get the new firmware notification on the Deco APP in the first place and It will be gradually pushed to the correct models over time. You could check for firmware upgrades on a regular basis or update the firmware via web UI first.

 

As for the hardware version of Deco, Normally Vx.0=Vx.6/Vx.8(eg:V1.0=V1.6/V1.8); Vx.x0=Vx.x6/Vx.x8(eg:V1.20=V1.26/V1.28). So Deco XE75 V1.6/1.8 use the same firmware as V1.

 

For the "Test internet speed", Deco XE75 does not have this feature on the Deco APP.
