Environment: 3 story, wood and sheet rock, walk-up (no elevator) building of 23 suites and common area (29,000 sq-ft).
I have determined that EAP655  and RE705X devices as APs - all on Cat6 does NOT give me signal strength into the depths of the suites at extremities of the building when located in 2nd floor hallways at corners and the AX95 in the common area on the main floor.

Testing with the AX6000 at the same corner locations almost does it. I am prepared to use ALL router APs (purchase 3 more to augment these 2).

My Questions: Would the signal improve if the routers as APs be set to EasyMesh? I don't need smooth roaming, so would having 2 SSID networks with 2 router APs be more beneficial? Is the AX6000 the best router as AP for use with the AX95?

 

Thanks for any assistance on helping me bring internet WiFi into this seniors' bldg at a much less cost than wiring individual routers into every suite.

If you don't need smooth roaming then EasyMesh won't give you any wireless signal improvement, moreover AX6000 doesn't support EasyMesh yet.

You could use the AX6000s in AP mode (Case 1) and set their SSIDs the same as your main router - thus you'll have only one SSID over the entire premises.

Or you can set them different than your main router SSID - thus you'll know at any moment to which AP you're connected to. It's your decision.

Thanks for this insight (I am more confident on what route to take and purchases to make; likely 3 more AX7800 (Archer AX95) routers. With the 2 routers I have already, I'll have 2 SSID nets and the others will be set to AP mode.Effectively splitting the building's coverage in half for each router with their APs.

Why not choose their Deco mesh to get a seamless mesh network?

No-one ever mentioned it. Also, it appears that any device to extend the signal needs great antennae and power to them. Mesh seemed to indicate being no better than the EAP655 and RE705X devices which proved insufficient.
