Frequent packet drop on Deco XE75 mesh
Frequent packet drop on Deco XE75 mesh
I have a XE75 3 pack and since the day I bought it I have been facing frequent packet drop and high pings on specific devices.
- Macbook Pro 2019
- Lenovo 20VD with Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz
The main deco is connected to ISP router which is in bridge mode, of the satellite router 1 is connected via ethernet and the other is wireless. I have tried rotating the main with satelite but no luck. The range is not an issue since I face issue sitting directly beside the router as well.
All the remaining devices work fine. To circumvent the issue I have to connect my macbook via Ethernet with the main deco router and then it works fine and no packet drops at all. The issue seems to be widespread and similar thread can be found in the forum for other deco models as well.
I have tried multiple combination by turning ipv6 on/off, Fast roaming and beam forming on/off, assigning a static IP for the devices and turning off mesh as well but nothing seems to fix the issue. I have tried these devices on other router using the same ISP and they work fine.
Below are the screenshots from my mac when connected over wifi.

@bakedbugaboo Since switching 5GHz to 80 MHz permanently, it's been rock-solid. Also had 2 or 3 firmware updates since but haven't switched 160 MHz back on as didn't really see any performance benefit anyway.

i am currently at version 1.3.2 and exclusively on 160Hz I see no drops whatsoever and connection has been pretty solid.
This has been the case since version 1.2.8, now I am not entirely sure what the issue was but I moved from the India firmware to US firmware for the same hardware version and not had any issues, so could be that.

I had a similar issue with packet drops and connectivity issues in general. Before I returned my units I downgraded to the UK 1.2.2 firmware version and everything seemed stable here. My xe75s were in a mesh with 3 xe75 Pros so your mileage may vary.

@bakedbugaboo Switched on 160 Mhz and been stable for the last 24 hours. Will see how it goes this week. I'm now on fw 1.2.9.

@bakedbugaboo Well, did't make it throught the second day :) As I live less than 10 miles from Stansted Airport, I think it must be picking up the radar and switching back to 80 Mhz. Still okay with it now though as it's much more stable on 80 Mhz than when I first got it. Performance is still very good even if I can't get that extra 10-20%.

Thanks all - very useful. I have been hardwired for the last few days as needed the stability. I have dropped to 80MHz and will do some testing shortly and feed back.
