Finally I have decided to risk to update to the latest firmware WR841N v8. The new firmware version is now: 3.13.33 Build 130506 Rel.48660n

Updating the firmware reseted my entire configuration to the factory configuration.

First impression: I don't see any difference so far. The behaviour and menus are all the same as before. There are probably some enhancement but it is not mentioned by TP-LINK as there is no description or release notes with this version. I'll keep you update if I notice anything (better or worse)...

Finally TP-LINK published the changes related to this new firmware version 3.13.33 Build 130506 Rel.48660n Published on 5/6/2013

Modifications and Bug Fixes:
- Improved WAN-Auto-Detect policy and optimized Quick Setup process;
- Fixed some vulnerabilities and improved security;
- Added auto WDS function.

Fixed my issue with windows machines being unable to connect to router after a few days (security key wrong would be the essence of the error message)
