Hello I'm trying to access the deco's web based interface. when it asks for the tp link ID password I put the password found in the deco app account, but it says incorrect password, what am i doing wrong ? Thanks

Hi, since you said "put the password found in the deco app account", do you use the WiFi password, or actually the same password that you use to log into the Deco APP?

The password for Web UI is the second one.

It is also suggested to log out of the current TP-Link email ID and sign in Deco APP again with the same password to see whether you got the correct one.

And ever since you had the issue, Did you change or reset the password once before?

Thanks David-TP the password I used I think  is from the app, On my phone i opened google password manager in chrome found TP-Link Deco and used that password What happens if I log out of the app and that password won't work, can I use the email to reset it / Many thanks

yes, the email could help you reset the password later.

By the way, at this moment, you can still edit the Deco settings on the Deco APP, right? there is no notice on the Deco, like "let's begin " on this link:

Paint Your Home in Wi-Fi/ Let's begin on the Deco APP

Could you please leave me a message with the MAC address of your main Deco?

Yes i can still edit the settings. I tried changing the password on the app using the password from the google password manager, it said the original password was incorrect, so I must of changed it sometime although i have no recollection of this, thanks

So I logged out of the app, chose forgot password , got a reset link, changed the password and successfully logged back into the app. Used the same password on this link http://tplinkdeco.net/webpages/index.html and got incorrect password 9 failed attempts only 1 left

 

EDIT could the problem be I am not using he latest firmware ? many thanks

Sorry David, i did not see your private message till now, your suggestion that it may be special characters in the password was spot on. I removed the characters and can now log on to the web UI, you are a superstar. Thanks very much

Well the original password had % $ and @ , i then changed the password that contained # and i think @ this too failed on the web UI i then removed all special characters and was successful at logging in. It's probably best just not use special characters or if you must the just use the app :)
