ethernet backhaul function not working - issue with cable?
Hi,
I have a set of 3 M9 Deco units with mesh enabled.
I'd like to establish ethernet backhaul from slave unit to master unit, since the slave unit has weak wifi connection to the master unit.
There is telephone access point and fortunately it has a UTP-cable in it. I've made RJ45 connectors on both ends. If I plus this home-made cable into the providers modem directly and the other end into my laptop, Internet works.. proof that the cable is fine.
If I connect the cable to the slave Deco unit and into the master Deco unit on the other end, the slave model remains on wifi backhaul and doesn't switch to ethernet backhaul.
In order to verify if the cable is correct, I've moved the slave unit just next to the master unit and connected them with a small (e.g. 30cm long) pre-fab Ethernet cable. Then it switches to Ethernet backhaul promptly.
I have another ethernet cable going towards 2nd floor and there it works. Is it the cable that is poor? Since plugging this cable directly into the modem then things are fine. (apart from the one thing I'm trying to do here).
Thanks.
