A more powerful main Deco?
A more powerful main Deco?
The M9 is my main. Allso I have 4 M5's (4 floors in the house). It works fine but could the speed and coverage be better if I changed the M9 (and placed it elsewhere) for a 'stronger/bigger' main Deco model? Is that possible.. does it make sense?

Today I switched 2 M5's with 2 M9's (both are satellites). Light is green on the 2 new M9's but they seem to 'stand alone' with no data coming to them and with a wired icon on the app page (Alma-Liva and Norman)? They are not ethernet wired...? Or maybe it just means they are getting power? And I no longer get the option in the app to show the Deco grid... I must do something (simple, sorry) wrong. How do I integrate the 2 M9's correctly into the Deco grid?
The 2 M9"s in question uses firmware version 1.2.11, the others use the latest one, 1.5.6. I am not able to update the firmware of the 2 new M9's ... the app says everything is okay... maybe the problem lies here. Is it possible to force update the firmware on the 2 M9 satellites? They get wifi but no internet data I guess...

The very old Deco M9 Plus firmware is what causes all these issues and confuses Deco app. That old firmware can't be updated by Deco app. Use this document: https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/1599/
See if Method 3 will work with your Deco M9 Plus and if not, use Method 2.

@Alexandre. Thanks, tried method 2 yesterday, will try method 3 tonight. (Will a factory reset help - if possible somehow)?)

In Method 2, there is another way. Instead of logging to Main Deco try logging to IP address of Satellite Deco you want to upgrade with new firmware, and do upgrade from there.
If Method 2 fails again, while upgrading specific Deco unit, then try Method 3.
Factory reset will not change firmware version. If no methods work, you can try firmware recovery process and I can give you link for it. Still, with firmware recovery, there is a chance to brick the Deco unit, so it is the last resort.
If you don't mind me asking, did you buy this set from the retailer or somewhere else? This is second time I see recently a set of Deco M9 Plus appears with very old firmware. In other case, the owner managed to upgrade Deco M9 Plus firmware.

@Alexandre. Bought 3 previsously-owned M9's a few days ago... probably not been used for years since their firmware is so outdated :). Also, I bought another set of M9's a month ago and they work just fine.
I will try to update the two M9 Satellites directly using method 2... how do I specifically log into the satellite Deco - I didn't see that option last night ...? and where will I find the Satellite's IP address?

In Deco app open info page for Satellite Deco and you should see its IP address there. If page is empty, connect at least one device to that Satellite Deco, wired or wireless, and info page should populate.
To login to that Satellite Deco, open its IP address in browser, use same password as for logging to Main Deco.
