Model: Archer AX50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.11

Hi all,

I am having a strange problem with my AX50. For about a week now, the wifi seems to just stop working. Both 2.4 and 5Ghz. All devices seem to disconnect and Windows reports that it can't connect to the network. My 2 Android devices report they can't connect. All devices can still see the wifi networks but simply cannot connect. If I reboot the router everything works again, for anywhere from 1 hour to 12 hours or so, then it will happen again.

I have just checked, and if I connect a device (Win11 PC) via cable, it does not receive an IP address. If I set one manually, I cannot ping or access the router, so it appears the whole router is non-responsive.

I have factory reset and checked for firmware updates
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Many Thanks

  @LordBeerus Thanks for replying. Yeah I am thinking it might be time to upgragde :) What makes it worse is that I can't even see the logs as they are cleared when the unit is power cycled. I have a suspicion it is overheating but I can't confirm. I noticed last night the CPU usage was about 75% on both cores and the unit felt hot.

I will have a look at the ax73 v2, that might be the way to go.

  @GarthB Just an update. In testing my overheaing theory, I 3d printed a small table to promote airflow underneath, where it seemed to be the hottest. I have now gone 24 hours without an issue and it is much cooler to the touch. Hopefully this has solved it. Thanks for the help.

  @GarthB

AX50 overheating is a known issue - check this thread and see how to mitigate this - usually placing it in a vertical position (on a wall) or in a well ventilated place, does the job.

The solution you came with is also a reasonable option.
