Hello,

I have recently bought TP-Link Archer AX55 which supports 3/4G dongle in its USB port.
Before AX55 I had C59 which also had a USB port. Upon surfing throughout the FAQs, User Manuals and Official TP-Link page I found nothing about the 3/4G dongle support.
Maybe I might have missed something, but can someone tell me if the Archer C59 supports 3/4G Dongle?
Thanks.

A 3G/4G USB dongle can't be used directly with the Archer C59. Another device would required that takes the USB dongle (or the SIM card directly) and provide an Ethernet port to which the C59 could be connected via network cable. However, such a device will likely cost more money than what the Archer C59 is worth, so it wouldn't really make sense.

As for a "free" option.
I see there are OpenWrt builds available for the Archer C59, but you'd better think twice about going that route. Setting this up is not the easiest of things and there is no guarantee that it will work in the end. Also, not every 3G/4G USB dongle will work. There should be a list of supported 3G/4G USB dongles somewhere.

By the way, I think that link on the Archer AX55 website is misleading. TP-Link should review it and perhaps add a footnote for clarification.

Hi,

There have been only a few routers from TP-Link that support the use of 3G/4G USB dongles and the Archer C59 is not one of them. The C59's USB port is only for connecting a USB storage device or a USB printer.

Actually I am surprised you were able to setup a 3G/4G dongle on the Archer AX55.

You may have quite misunderstood. I never tried to run a 3/4G USB on AX55 since I already have internet cable from ISP in my apartment. I was thinking maybe it CAN run the signal by look in official page: https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/wifi-router/archer-ax55/ where at the bottom you can see 'See what you can do with the USB port >' at USB 3.0 sector. but just a quick question, is there any way at all to run a 3/4G internet on archer c59? Thank you.

I have once installed OpenWRT on the router and basically the firmware worked on it, just it was super hard to figure out what was what. Anyways Thanks for the clarifications, appreciate.
