I have two Deco M9 Plus devices. Both have V2 hardware.

 

When I check the Firmware update settings in Deco App then it said that this firmware is up to date. 

  •   Deco App is from Playstore and it is up-to-date. Also tried with the new Deco v3.0 app, but shows the same.
  •   In TPLink's M9 Plus firmware site I can see newer firmware versions (https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/deco-m9-plus/v2/#Firmware) "1.5.6_211018"
  •   Tried to go to "http://tplinkdeco.net", but it jumps to "http://tplinkdeco.net:30000/webpages/login.html" and shows error:
    • "The requested URL /webpages/login.html was not found on this server."
  •   Tried with the "Deco M9Plus_2.0_upgrade_tool_v1.2.0_Windows" update tool, but it just not login. (The username/password are sure good as I can login into the Android Deco App with them) I have disabled firewalls and disabled other network connections as it is written in the tool's page.
    • Tried with Win7 and Win10  with Pro and Home versions also. Compatibility mode and Administrator mode not helped too. No login allowed.
    • I have installed WireShark to check what is sending out in the update tool. It is trying to connect to tplinkdeco.net, but this local webserver on the device is not good in this firmware (see above)

 

Is there any way I can try to update my Deco M9 Plus units?

You appear to be technically savvy, so here is another option for you to try: firmware recovery, with the latest firmware file from the TP-Link Support page. How to use firmware recovery if the Deco become brick

You appear to be technically savvy, so here is another option for you to try: firmware recovery, with the latest firmware file from the TP-Link Support page. How to use firmware recovery if the Deco become brick

This was what I was searching for. Worked like a charm.

The local webpage (tplinkdeco.net) is still not working after the firmware update, but I do not care it any more.

Glad it worked for you. This is the only time you needed to follow that process: since firmware 1.5.* the button "Update Deco" is working in Deco app. When TP-Link releases next firmware for M9 Plus, which is expected to be 1.6.*, you should be able to run firmware update through Deco app.

 

With your current Deco firmware you can access Main Deco Web interface by its IP address. If you run Deco mesh in its default router settings and IP range, that will be http://192.168.68.1

You can also access Satellite Deco Web interfaces same way. You can find Satellie Deco IP addresses in Deco app.

For those reading this conversation, trying firmware recovery option to just update firmware should be the last resort. Try other options first. Not doing firmware recovery right or making mistake in the process could brick Deco unit, making it inoperable.

Just for the record if someone will need this in the future:

 

For me with "http://192.168.0.1" is not working, but with "https://192.168.0.1/" it works, so it is HTTPS protocol that must be used.

( 192.168.0.1 is my main Deco's internal IP address )
