Model: Archer C80
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

I have an Archer C80 router, RE200 and RE305 range extenders, if I want to create a onemesh network, do I have to connect both bands (2.4 and 5GHz) or either band is enough?

It is recommended to use the Smart Connect feature of the wireless router, to enjoy seamless connection between dual band networks.

If you have decided to split the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz bands then you should connect both bands.

Here's a guide for building the OneMesh.

@terziyski How many extenders can join a onemesh network?

It is recommended to use up to two REs in a single link chain, otherwise your wireless speed can degrade too much.

Here's a document which you can read for more details (Part 3).

@terziyski Single link chain? Do you mean like this: Router - Ext1 - Ext2? What if all extenders connect directly to the router, How many can join?

If I connect EXT1 wirelessly to the router and EXT2 to EXT1 with ethernet, will it still work as a onemesh?

No, it won't work in OneMesh, because OneMesh doesn't support ethernet backhaul.

Check the OneMesh FAQ - Q5/A5 and Q8/A8.

EXT2 (in AP mode) connected with an ethernet cable to EXT1 won't build a OneMesh with other devices.

It's worth mentioning the EasyMesh standard which is planned to be implemented - see more details here.

I also have a Archer C80... Couple of queries

1. OneMesh is giving error while I select my Security level as WP3-Personal. Is there a way to setup OneMesh with WP3 security

2. I am planning to procure RE305 range extender. I would like to know if guest networks can also be extended through OneMesh between C80 and RE305.

Thank you

@JK80

Where did you choose WPA3-Personal security? Can you post a screenshot of it?

Onemesh only works for the main network and the C80 must be in Router mode.
