Model: TL-WR902AC
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 0.9.1 0.4 v0089.0 Build 220329 Rel.61109n(4555)

hello,

I have a huawei LTE stick (Type E3372h-320 with Vodafone DE SIM Card) that I would like to use with the TP-Link WR902AC.

But on the compatibility page are only three sticks for outside germany listed.

the HUAWEI stick is unfortunately not recognized by the router. Is there anything I can do?

On the Windows 10 PC, I have set up the stick so that it now automatically establishes an Internet connection - there, a new Ethernet card is automatically created, through which the connection is established (192.168.8.1) and I am displayed the configuration interface. Properly configure (eg tethering) I can not do anything there.

Thank you

  @Kevin_Z

After I knew that I had to set the router to Share ETH, it worked exactly as it should.

I looked at the quick start guide - it doesn't mention this procedure to connect a 3G/4G USB-Stick.

I suggest that this be included in the instructions, as this is the only reason I bought the Router.

Answer from Hotline:

"Sorry that I did not state clearly in my previous e-mail that the wireless router mode is to switch the operating mode on the TL-WR902AC to Share ETH, and below is the detailed instruction.
(Since you do not have an internet ethernet cable connected to the TL-WR902AC, so in the connection type, you can select Dynamic IP to complete the configuration.)

After you set it up in the Share ETH mode, on the web UI of the router, please go to the Network>3G/4G Settings page to enable 3G/4G as a backup solution for internet access, then connect the USB modem to the router."

Thanks again. This thread can now be closed.

@Kevin_Z  i downloaded the firmware, installed it and then restored the WR902AC to factory default.

Firmware version:         0.9.1 0.4 v0089.0 Build 210316 Rel.69921n(4555)(Beta)

Hardware version:        TL-WR902AC v3 00000001

I have saved the log message:
1970-01-01 00:00:15 [6] 3G: Hotplug: id[0]=12d1_1f01_0123456789ABCDEF, class[0]=unswitched_3g, action[0]=add
1970-01-01 00:00:26 [6] 3G: 3G/4G Modem vendorID: 0x12d1; productID: 0x1f01
1970-01-01 00:00:26 [6] 3G: init E3372h-320(0x12d1-0x1f01)
1970-01-01 01:00:39 [6] 3G: 396: go to already_switched.
1970-01-01 01:00:40 [6] 3G: 525 File: /var/3G/12d1_1f01_0
1970-01-01 01:00:42 [6] 3G: 830: The modem name of the global parameter is ETHER_MODEM.
1970-01-01 01:00:43 [6] 3G: 956: This is one LTE modem which has no tty interface!

In any case, the situation has not changed. I cannot find a way to use the LTE Stick as Internet access. The LED of the LTE stick turns "cyan" after a short time, indicating a connection to Vodafone's LTE network.

If I can provide any more information, let me know. (e.g. HUAWEI E3372h-320 HiLink V11.0.1.1(H697SP4C983) Web UI version WEBUI 11.0.1.1(W13SP4C7110))

By the way, I have given a new password at the 1st login after the factory reset after the firmware update - via the TP-Link Tether App on my android phone this is not accepted. I suspect this is due to the beta firmware?

@Kevin_Z i have reset the router again to factory settings and changed the logging to DEBUG. Then I rebooted the router (power off/on) and read out the logfile - more information was not output to the log.txt.
