Model: Archer AX11000
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.0 Build 20220221 rel.50072(5553)

The sticker on the back of the router says it is Ver 1.26. The router reports I am running latest firmware.

The 5 GHz wifi connection keeps dropping at random intervals. We typically have 5 or 6 devices connected to the router of which only 1 or 2 are connected via the 5 GHz network. The other devices use the 2.4 GHz bandwidth. I have the 2nd (gaming) 5 GHz connection disabled, but have the 2.4 GHz guest network enabled.

The 5 GHz devices drop a connection at random intervals several times a day. It also frequently happens that the 5 GHz network is not visible/available to connect to. After I physically turn the router off/on, the 5 GHz network starts to work again but will act up at random times within hours.

What should I do to troubleshoot this issue?

Hello @OldRabbit

Can you confirm or observe which channel the router is broadcasting? I would suggest trying to modify the 5G settings on the AX11000, you can run a Wi-Fi analyzer on the phone to review the 5G networks around you, then choose one that with less interference with others to observe if the connection will be more stable.

You may go through this FAQ and check if you are using a DFS channel. If yes, that might be normal when it detects radar signals. You may read this story too to see how to optimize the 'wireless channel' and 'channel width' selection in your router.

BTW, is the AX11000 brand new or it was working fine before? You may also refer to this article to check if it is located in a proper location:

  @Kevin_Z

The router is set to select a channel automatically. I will check the channel it is using next time it drop the 5 GHz network. Right now, it is on CH 48 with no other networks in my neighborhood interfering with it.

@OldRabbit

Please also try enabling the second 5G on the AX11000 to see if it will connect stably.
