Model: TL-WR902AC
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 0.9.1.0.3 v0089.0 Build 191018 Rel.34369n(4555)

Hi guys,

I've been trying to find a way to connect my travel router to my network, however I am unsure on how to connect this router to a network that requires a username and password to connect.

When connecting this router to range extend, almost all of the necessary popups are included, except for the option to input my network's username.

Just to clarify, this is not the login to the travel router (Username: admin, Password: admin), this is the network I am trying to extend.
Any help would be appreciated

TYSM, Darcy

Hello @Fozzie03

Is your WR902AC a US version or an EU version? You can verify that by locating the bottom sticker of the router.

If it is the US version, you can install the latest firmware version which is TL-WR902AC(US)_V3_0.9.1 Build 220329, then try to configure it as Share Hotspot mode. You can also check the troubleshooting suggestions we provided in the following thread if it still fails:

Hey @Kevin_Z,

I have an EU version of the device, and have now installed the beta, which gives me lots of upgrades thank god.

However the problem still persists. The network I'm trying to hotspot off of doesn't have a portal or authentication login page, instead, similar to where you would normally login to the internet through Windows 10, instead of having to insert just the password, I also have to use a username as well.
Maybe there was a step I missed, but unfortuantely it still doesn't work.

  @Fozzie03

Hi,

Can you please post a screenshot that shows the login window you get when you directly connect a client device to that network? (without the TL-WR902AC)

Use a Paint software to black out personal information in the screenshot, in case there is any.

As you can see, there's no portal or web authentication, merely Username and Password connection.
Sorry if i wasn't explaining properly

  @Fozzie03

According to what I read on the Internet eduroam uses WPA/WPA2-Enterprise for their wireless APs, which expains the prompts for username and password.

As far as I can tell the TL-WR902AC does not support to range-extend WPA/WPA2-Enterprise. Or perhaps it's rather that WPA/WPA2-Enterprise can't be simply extended like normal WPA/WPA2 networks.

I recommend you google for something like "eduroam wifi repeater". You shoud find hints how other people have been able to range-extend the eduroam network. At a brief look the solutions I came across seemed to involve third-party firmware like DD-WRT or OpenWrt, but if you dig a bit deeper maybe you can also find some device that can do it out of the box.
