unable to change signal source
hey all,
my setup :
main deco - Deco X20-DSL firmware 1.0.4 build 20210807 Rel.46250
and 3 deco M5 slaves on firmware 1.6.0 as mention .
operation Mode : Wi-fi router .
its seems that one of my deco m5 keep connect to main deco with weak wi-fi signal , while my second deco actually at the middle of both , i try to change the signal source with the app but " Failed to save your settings. Please try again later" keeps happening.
Thanks in advance.

Sometimes, unusual glitches with Deco app and Deco mesh are fixed with just a reboot.
Power off all your Satellite Deco. Power off Main Deco and power it back on. Restart smartphone with Deco app on it. Check that in Deco app all Satellite Deco are listed as offline. Power on all Satellite Deco. Wait till they are online in Deco app. Try changing Signal Source again.
I did test Signal Source change with my Deco M5 firmware 1.6, worked with no issues.

Thanks for the quick reply,
I tried to do that, in addition I tried to remove from the network the same deco that I can't change the source and add it again, or reboot the whole network. But the problem still happens. I wonder if the reason might be related to the fact that my main deco is not an M5.
even that i trying to change the signal source of the m5 from the main x20 to another m5

I just tested it on my Deco mesh again, to make sure TP-Link Deco cloud is not experiencing issues currently.
My setup :
Main Deco - M9 Plus
Satellite Deco - two M5 on firmware 1.6.0, one M9 Plus
Operation Mode : Access Point
I selected Satellite M5 that is by default connected to Main M9. I can successfully point that Satellite M5 to another Satellite M5 and to Satellite M9. No error messages in Deco app. Takes a minute or two for change to propagate through TP-Link Deco cloud and back to Deco app.
You have three Satellite M5: try changing Signal Source on other two, that would help to understand if the problem is limited by one Deco M5 on your home network or it is the same for any Satellite M5 you have.

After testing, it seems that the message appears for every deco that I try to change his source...

Works for me, does not work for you. Hopefully TP-Link Support will check this forum topic during their business hours and assist.

The rest are just my speculations.
I suspect the issue you described is somehow related to the TP-Link cloud servers your Deco mesh and app are connected to, which may be different from where my Deco mesh and app connect. It is possible "your" TP-Link cloud servers malfunction (scientific terms: hang or stuck) and require bounce. Which will happen when TP-Link personnel finds the issue or just come to work on Monday and proactively bounce servers.
I would suggest you try again Monday late afternoon Beijing time, if TP-Link Support will not reply to that forum topic before. I am not exactly sure where they are working from, but it must be Asia-Pacific region. Evening Beijing time should be a safe bet.
Another possibility is you make too many configuration changes at once and save each of them individually. Previous change is not propagated through cloud yet, and hence new one is rejected. Example:
Toggle Signal Selection switch named Auto to OFF.
Push Save.
From list of Deco nodes select Deco to connect to.
Push Save.
Seems normal, but I got issues doing that. I had to change that to the following:
Toggle Signal Selection switch named Auto to OFF.
Push Save.
Close Deco app. Open again. Check if Auto switch is set to OFF. If it is still ON, close Deco app. Wait few minutes. Open Deco app again. Repeat till Auto shows as OFF.
From list of Deco nodes select Deco to connect to.
Push Save.
Close Deco app. Open again. Check if Deco app shows Deco connected where you wanted it to. If not, close Deco app. Wait few minutes. Open Deco app again.

Also, you haven't said that, but have you tried to just toggle Auto switch to OFF and do Save, making no other changes? Will "Failed to save your settings" error appear with just that action?
