RE450 shutting down by itself
My RE450 keeps shutting down by itself after a few hours of use. All LEDs turn off and no WIFI is available. Pressing the power button does not work, but unplugging and re-plugging the device works, until it shuts down again a few hours later.
I've been using this device since May 2021 in extender mode and this problem started a few weeks ago.
What I tried without success:
- Factory reset the device
- Check the different settings
- Update the firmware
- Verify that there was no power off schedule
- Change power outlet
- Search this forum
Any ideas?

@Boophie try to change the location of your device, put it in a more ventilated place, this looks like a sign of overheating... if that doesn't solve it, try to update to the latest version, there is already a new firmware version for this repeater in question, if that also not solve, then only a technical assistance or a possible replacement for a new one.

Thank you for your help. Ventilation might have been a problem. I moved it now and I will see.
As for the firmware update, I would void the warranty if I update as its not yet available in Canada.

@bouphi Is it shutting down and staying off, or is it rebooting? My family had issues with their RE450 and RE650 where they seem to like rebooting when they're under a load and/or warm (environment is around the 70s F). Never had a solution, so I'm curious if you'll get one so I can give it a go on theirs.

@JigaWatt it was actually shutting down (all the LEDs off) and impossible to turn it back on using the power button. The only solution was to unplug and replug it, but it would do the same the next day or so.
That being said, I moved it to a well ventilated area (corridor, previously behind a desk) and it works fine now.
I hope it helps!

@bouphi I found no solution as of this time. I can't figure out the actual problem, but it mimics the same issue I have with an RE650 (regardless what outlets they are plugged into, as well as range from router). Updating the firmware hasn't produced a solution, so I'm leaning on the products being the issue.

@JigaWatt simply try to reduce the coverage area from maximum to medium , you can do this setting through the Tether app or through the web interface, do this procedure it should reduce overheating of the devices.
