New Feature: Global Access Control Log

Based on my previous thread global access control, a written log would be necessary to find out the threats to the internal network.

As all are aware, malicious websites use many approaches to access in a malicious way the computer and network behind.

The problem:

AX11000 administrators and home users do not possess a way to browse the malicious websites a person has gone through.

The solution:

For this very good reason it is asked of TP-Link to create a simple Global Access Control Log based on the previous thread as described in the first sentence.

This will indicate the MAC address at fault with the malicious website and a timestamp of the action indicating the date and time of incident.

Hey

What you are describing here is a function called IPS (intrusion prevention system) or a Proxy server.   As you will be analysing packets at an inspection level, this requires quite a bit of processing power to operate.

This is generally not a feature on home grade devices..   adding this would greatly increase the manufacturing cost.  For example the smallest IPS system requires 2gb of RAM to run, most routers have 128 / perhaps 256mb at best

Even simple logging of website requests would stress the CPU in a home router, it would also likely be exhaustively big to process.

@Philbert What happens to be descriptive here is absolutely not an IPS or a Proxy. Packets could be analyzed only on the "send" TCP/IP packet to a previous blacklisted website. The power on one side of the protocol does not cause massive slowdowns, and actions could be done in another parallel thread. In regards to the memory/space... the feature wouldn't take any space if you block the internal space of the router, and the AX11000 has a thumb drive that one can use for storage, where this could be perfect to store the logs. I am not saying to log every packet from / to the website. Just log when the user tries to go to the website and block it.
