Model: Archer C7
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.2.0

Hello,

in February i put last firmware on my Archer C7 (AC1750) Router. Now last 3 weeks it's behave strange. Out of nowhere internet (cable) stops working, wifi stops working , all stops.  It is sometimes twice or 3 times a day. I tried a lot, that router would not be under 'pressure'.

I set up logs but it's seems to me like it would reset itself. Also system clock goes back to 10.12.2021 00:00.

It is really frustrating.

You guys have any ideas before I try to downgrade firmware?

Thank you in advance and have a nice rest of the day.

PS. Logs from 03.06.2022 just after router started to work after 1 or two minutes

Hello @Alex_one

Thank you for reaching out to us and welcome to the TP-Link community.

When the router is restarted, its system time will be restored to the factory when the firmware was built, and it will synchronize again once it's connected to the internet successfully, so you will see the router time was restored to 2021-12-10 when it's restarted.

Can you please confirm if you are enabling Reboot Schedule on the router web GUI? If yes, you may try disabling it to monitor the connectivity again.

When the internet stops working on the router next time, please check the LEDs on the router, are they correctly on or flashing?

Except for the router firmware upgrade, are there any other changes in the network or in your home? Are you still using the original power adapter?

  @Kevin_Z

Hello Kevin,

I tried many things, disable 5G network, put WiFi signal quality to medium, disable QOS put as many devices as possible on cable network that only phones and tablets are on WiFi. I put the newest firmware as possible, I also perform factory reset and turn on just functions I need, but router still reboots itself.

When reboots it is not hot or anything. It is on top of the closet with other equipment.

Reboot schedule is disabled. I am thinking to enable it on the night time, if it would be better during day, "I am thinking like possibility."

Power outlet is OK because  all equipment is on the same phase and all work with no problem. I have my service provider modem "bridge mode", tp link modem and switch.

When WiFi fall out, router reboots, on router all the led's are OFF, just power led is blinking.

Home network didn't change. I have another "old" router set as AP that I can extend  TP-Link network but its on a different channels, (TP-link channel 1, Linksys 7),  I have two switches, server....

OpenVPN is also configured on the router.

I am still using original power adapter.

I have 6 wired clients and 5 wireless clients online when its network the most busy.

Do you know for any Log program, that I could set and see just before the reboot starts what is happening?

Have a nice day

@Alex_one

Thank you very much for all the detailed information and tests you've made.

I would agree that you can try to enable Reboot Schedule on the router at night when there is no requirement for the internet, then monitor the connectivity.

If the issue persists, we recommend reaching out to the local tech support, so they can work with you in looking into the issue further or help with the replacement:

  @Kevin_Z , my suspicion goes also on power supply that came with router because it was ok fot the first three months, without interruptions. It is possibility that voltage falls for little or some spike come  and interrupt it. So yesterday I change stock power supply with my own. We will see how it will be.

Have a nice day

Hello, it's not the problem in power supply. I change it in Monday but yesterday router also rebooted.

I will see how it will be with schedule reboot in the middle of the night.

Alex

  @Alex_one

Kevin, just one more question before I change this equipment.

With all the things that go wrong I am very disappointed with this router. Network equipment must be 100% working this days.

Recap, even if it set schedule reboot at 3 am, at 6 am it reboots itself. I want downgrade firmware but its return error.

Things are going worse.

Do you have some other address for firmware?

It does not recognize file.

Have a nice day

Alex
