Username input field missing after firmware update

Hi,
After upgrading the firmware, the login page is missing the username field. I tried to downgrade it to the previous version (i.e. TL-WR840N(EU)_V6.2_201124) but the issue still persists.
Resetting the device does not seem to have fixed the issue, either, though having looked at the source code of the page, I can see that this "nd" class in the CSS code is making the username element hide (see screenshot below). That said, even when I remove that class manually and the missing input reappears, it still returns "username/password failed" after I enter my credentials.
Any advice is appreciated.
@woozle Thanks! I overlooked that point and did not know that there is a password-only login implementation in newer versions. And correct, a yet older version would be needed here, I assume (which is not available on the website)
And with regard to your last question, it was (and still is, after the update) showing v6 in the admin area (screenshot attached). But the label on the back of the device reads Ver:6.20. Is there something I should avoid here?
If the label on the router reads Ver: 6.20, then the firmware versions that have "V6.2" in their name are the correct ones.
P.S. The regional TP-Link firmware download websites are sometimes not in sync and one site may show newer versions, while another may show older versions.
