Does Deco support separate 2.4GHz and 5GHz SSIDs?
Deco supports disabling 2.4GHz and 5GHz separately under the Main/Guest/IOT networks.
As for separate SSIDs over 2.4GHz and 5GHz, it might not be completed via a single network, But you could set the Main Network to 5GHz only, and then create a different SSID for the 2.4 GHz only IOT network.
“One Network” is widespread in Mesh networks in order to enjoy seamless roaming, which is different from non-mesh traditional routers that require you to connect to the band you want manually. So we tend to remain one SSID per network, and Deco keeps its network simple by automatically choosing the band that gives you the best wireless roaming experience. It uses the same name for both the 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands under the same network. Both radio bands are active simultaneously. If the device is only compatible with 2.4 GHz, then it won't try to connect to 5 GHz. And if it supports both, it will connect to only one radio band at any given time. Based on the device's capabilities, the Band Steering feature of Deco will attempt to guide your connected devices to the band with the best performance.
So if you want separate SSIDs over 2.4 GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi here is what you could do:
- Turn off 2.4 GHz under the Main Network.
- Enable the IOT network with a different SSID under 2.4 GHz only.

Thanks for the tips and info. Disappointed to hear that there is no support for separate SSIDs for the 2.4 & 5Ghz bands. Yes, disabling the 5Ghz band has resolved the issue with my older IoT devices connecting to WiFi.

My August Home doorbell should be on 2.4ghz, but will stay connected to 5ghz when using the both 2.4ghz & 5ghz option. This causes it not to work correctly. It is constantly loosing connection. This causes me to miss activity recordings, package deliveries, and visitors. If I switch to 2.4ghz only and do a speed test it's good. If I turn on for both 2.4ghz & 5ghz it automatically switches back to 5ghz and the speed test results reports that wifi speeds are inadequate. This is frustrating. Please fix this!!!

Having just purchased the XE75 Pro to replace my Asus mesh wifi setup, honestly I'm thinking of returning it as it's so lacking in common features. It's almost like an entry-level device with high-end hardware. Among the things that are severely lacking:
The aforementioned inability to split 2.4 and 5Ghz SSIDs., while allowing it for 6 Ghz. Using the guest network is not a solution as it doesn't allow devices to communicate cross-networks.
The web-interface is effectively pointless, you can't do a single meaningful thing in it, may as well remove it. Sorry but using the app is not the best way to get some things done.
Why can't I block the app being available outside of my network? I don't want any access to my network router remotely unless I set it up.
I could go on. For such a high-end (and expensive) device, it's being crippled as such because the features are entry-level at best.
Edit: After seeing all the other issues pointed out on here, like Autosensing not being configurable, I'm just going to return the XE75 Pro and go somewhere else, as Pro is the one thing this product is not.

I just purchased this new XE5300 after returning the netgear nighthawk for better network coverage and now I just found out that this router does not seperate 2.5 and 5 ghz. This is ridiculous. You have this option for 6 ghz and why not for 5g as well.
I have this new office laptop which has the newer wifi module with 6e but somehow it does not detect the 6ghz. Anyway I would be happy if it only connects to 5G all the time but no, it swtiches to 2.5g as well. And then I do not get the full bandwidth and speed I need for basic office work and conferene call. Right now the option I have is to turn off the 2.5g but I also have several Raspberry Pi around that need 2.5g to connect.
Please make this available. We are not asking for new technologies or something our of this world, we are only asking for a very basic functions for a very expensive router. Thanks

I watch this thread for almost a year and I think that only option is to buy asus mesh...

@Zubr Thanks for the heads up. By reading the forum I already got the vibe of the tp-link. Luckly I bought it from a reputable chain store where I can return within a year. IF tp-link cannot deliver this simple features where other brands can and even other non mesh product of their can I would most probably switch to other router.
