Based on the messages here in the forum I made a big mistake buying the DECO BE1100. Without a web interface to properly configure the unit it is basically useless to me. Luckily I purchased from Costco and can take it back tomorrow. It would appear TP-Link has decided they only want to deal with the consumer who has no idea about networks and does everything from their phone.

It's really disappointing that there is no plan for a WebUI. Not only is it bad for any admins, but for anyone who has aging or diminished eyesight like me. Reading it from a phone app is a phone app is unacceptable. A tablet is not that much better. This seems like the way many router manufacturers are going and it really show very little concern for your customer. Possibly an ADA issue.

This would greatly help in the frequent occasions that something goes wrong with the main unit and I have to reconfigure everything from scratch , getting into awkward positions to use the app at close range .

Seriously, I would have likely considered another product had I known there was no web based interface. I'm a bit ticked that it's reliant on a smart phone app to manage.

  @AndreasHV I agree. Setting up things like IP Address reservations, port redirection and so using the App is kind of painful.

It's not possible to see any log when setup fails . as an expert user I want to have the all possible access including webacess to my network device. If I knew that deco mesh only has app access I wouldn't buy it. I will return it today.

WebUI configuration is much more simple and straightforward than having to use an app to configure the router.

  @TP-Link - this is disappointing. I haven't read through the 700 pages of comments, so I am not sure if a web interface has been abandoned or not, but using the iPhone app, and nothing else, is not really very helpful. I just replaced my aging, and broken, Linksys Velop AC2000 Mesh network and got 99% of things up and running, and then I find out that a web UI is not available even though people have been asking for years. I probably would have looked elsewhere had I known that beforehand. I didn't see anything in the reviews I read stating this as an issue and even though I could return it, I most likely won't as it took me a few days to get my network all setup again. 

 

If I am brutally honest, not having a web interface probably won't kill me too much, but it would be nice. The Linksys admin UI was pretty decent even though they constantly tried to get me to use the app instead. I don't spend too much time administering the network, but for those times that I do, it would be nice to do it from my desktop. 

 

Unless things change, this will be might first and last venture into the world of using TP-Link products.

  @HibsMax you perfectly summit up mate... prior to my Deco units I had two various archer units and always found them to be good.

 

the deco hardware is great, but the lack of web ui is a drawback. And while I get things done in the app, it would be so much quicker and easier to do it on my laptop or desktop... 

 

When my Deco X95 hit end of life, I won't be using TPLink again...

  @DoinitSideways TP-Link just don't seem to care regarding customer feedback one bit.

 

This thread is one of the longest threads i have seen on this forum and its disappointing that we are not being listened too.

 

We understand this range is a consumer based product but treating the customer like an idiot is very ordinary business practice, perhaps a class action for deceptive marketing might be the direction to head here if possible.

 

Time to start looking into legalities of their practices to find a form of action.

 

I myself only use the Deco product as access points only using a fully managed SMB router of theirs and no hasstles have arised using the product this way.

 

This is a suggested work around for managing of the network, a stand alone GUI for router gives you control over your clients and devices connected to network, but still and just use the deco app to monitor wireless device clients.

 

Its a minor work around but found it to be an effective approach.
