Satellite Deco shows red LED intermittently when using Cat5 ethernet backhaul.
I have a Virgin router operating in modem mode, which the main Deco connects to. A Netgear gigabit switch connects to the main Deco to provide ethernet connectivity through the house, and a single satellite Deco extends the Wifi mesh network across the house.
If the satellite Deco communicates with the main Deco via WiFi, all is good. However, if I connect the satellite Deco to the ethernet to use ethernet backhaul, the wifi connection it provides drops out every 20-30 minutes and the LED turns red. After a minute or two, the connection is reestablished and all works fine until the next dropout. The main Deco is unaffected.
Removing the ethernet connection from the satellite Deco fixes the problem.
I suspect the Netgear switch may be part of the problem. Or perhaps that the ethernet cabling is Cat5 (100Mbps limit) while the WiFi runs at close to 200Mbps and the imbalance creates the problem.
Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions? I'd like to use the ethernet backhaul if possible.
Thanks.
