Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Just installed M5 mesh, and it works OK, but had to do this through my current TalkTalk supplied Huawei hg365 router as the only way of connecting the Ethernet cable. The line to the house is copper (with fibre ) so only incoming connection is a standard phone line. Router has to be turned on, so it's own WiFi is still operating in addition to the mesh. Is this a problem for optimising speed and coverage of the mesh? Is there a way of bypassing the router. There is no separate modem.
This must be a common question I guess, but couldn't find a suitable thread, and the automated online assistant isn't much use

@antollamh

Keep the router.

You can turn off WiFi on TalkTalk router, in the following router configuration page:

Uncheck both "Enable Wireless 2.4 Ghz" and "Enable Wireless 5 GHz."

Also, if you bought Deco M5 to improve WiFi coverage in your home, and not for parental controls and bandwidth management, you can configure Deco mesh to run in Access Point mode. In Access Point mode Deco will rely on TalkTalk router to manage network and Deco will provide WiFi signal only. In that configuration, WiFi on TalkTalk router should be off, too.

This is Deco app screen, under More/Advanced, where you can change Deco to Access Point mode.
