TD-8817 v8 used on Consolidated Communications ADSL line drops connection intermittently.  Line tests clean (no bit errors) by ISP, and by using internal features on Comtrend ar5381u modem/router.  The TD-8817 cannot use an internet-based ADSL line tester because it does not respond to an external ping.  I believe this is why it drops the connection as well.  Is there a setting that can be changed to enable response to external ping?

I appreciate the reply.  It turns out that by switching ACL OFF in the router settings, an external ping is able to reach the router and be returned.  It seems that the default setting is ACL ON, and that blocks external ping response.  Which would seem to be a sensible security feature.
