Hi everyone,

After an Email from TP-Link technical support about fully functional WOL on TX401, I bought this NIC to be installed into a home server on Unraid OS, with Asrock x570m pro4 and R7 pro 5750GE, which work fine in a combination.

Mainboard has only 1Gbe LAN and I want to add 10Gbe NIC with RJ45 and keep only one connection to the router. That means on-board LAN will not be in use.

My need is to have only one LAN connection a with a possibility for WOL over the NIC. It works very well with on-board LAN from S5 state with enabled ACPI, but I could make it working with neither Intel X550 nor AQC107 cards. Intel confirmed that the chip itself has a WOL capability, but it is not implemented in NICs.

Then I tried several AQC107 NICs. Asus has confirmed that WOL is not implemented in their ASUS XG-C100C.

 

Finally I requested TP Link about WOL on TP Link TX401 and received an email, saying that WOL should work.

Nevertheless, TP Link TX401 does not show any signs of working WOL at all and about to be returned back to the shop.

Could you please advise if NIC TX401 has WOL implemented?

I have double checked the TX401 on another motherboard (Gigabyte Aorus x570 Master) and WOL does work well with TX401.

I was mislead by Asrock support, telling me that on their Asrock X570m Pro4 all PCIe devices managed to wake up the system successfully. Mine did wake up solely with the integrated LAN NIC. I tried 4 different 10G NICs: Intel X550T2 and 3 versions on AQC107 (TP-Link, Qnap and Synology). By the way TP-Link implementation is way better from these 3: both Synology and Qnap have poor heatsinks with 2 plastic pins mounts and Synology also does not have WOL.

So, my problem lies in a defctive or not comptible motherboard.

Hello @koaly 

Thank you for your valuable feedback, TX401 should support WOL as our internal spec.  May I know did you test WOL in the local network, how did you test it?  It is suggest to double confirm some settings of WOL here is guide for reference:
