Model: Archer T2U Nano
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: EU, ???

Hi,

I bought the Archert T2U Nano in Germany since my built in Wifi is old/slow.

On 5GHz Networks it disconnects/breaks the internet connection when under high load, recovers after a minute or enabling flight mode.

My Laptop is just about 1m from the Router and I get good transfer speeds. But whenever I start speedtests or larger downloads on the 5GHz Band the Stick seems to disconnect and drop the connection.

Not every time, but frequently and it can be recreated starting an internet speed test, or large download.

Windows10 Wifi Symbol does not necessarily show disconnect, but recovery takes about a minute or swithich on/off flight mode.

If I disable QoS in the device/driver the network speed drops from 433/433 (Win10 display) to 65/65, but seems to be more stable.  with QoS off the problem also exists.

Have not noticed this on 2,4 GHz yet.

Currently using Driver Microsoft 1030.38.712.2019

But also happens with RT Driver 1030.38.712.2019

guess it is the same one?

Is this a known issue? Any fixes known? Help apreciated.

Coincidence: Just happend while typing this post (had to redo the post) :-(

Hello@Bigfoot82 ,

Thank you for your detailed post.  May I know the model of your WiFi router?

  •  It is recommended to change a different Wi-Fi channel on router and you could download WiFi analyzer app or software and select a relatively clean 5Ghz channel.
  • Please try this chipset driver for  and see if it helps with the issue:

https://static.tp-link.com/beta/2021/202101/20210108/RTLWlanU_WindowsDriver_1030.41.0514.2020_Drv_3.00.0036(26078).zip

Here is the instruction to manually install driver: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/920/

If problem still exists, please  help check the  computer motherboard info and send us the photos https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2722/

What are the network activities with high load when issue occurs, does the issue happen when web pages?

@Solla-topee

Router ist AVM Fritbox cable 6591 but I also tried with the origial Vodafone Wi-Fi6 router.

I have partly resolved the problem, but am still stuck. I switched the T2U Nano from the USB3 Port to the USB2 Port of my laptop (old Lenovo Yoga Ideapad 13).

The connection seems to be more stable now. I haven't discovered the massive dropouts anymore.

But since I cannot use the Logitech Unifying receiver in the USB3 port (known issue with interference) I can not keep this setup.

Do you have any Ideas, if the driver may be instable/incompatibe with USB3 ports? Any way I can find out if this is related to T2U or to my laptop/chipset drirver?

btw. I tried the linked driver; but it works the same as the original one on the USB2 port; i don't see any difference

@Bigfoot82 Hello,

Thank you for your updated information, if adapter works stably in USB 2.0, not USB 3.0, here is another driver you could give it a try:

@Solla-topee Thanks for the quick response, but no success on the USB3 Port. Inital connection to Wifi was also very hesitant (neede to enable flight mode 2 times and reboot)

Speedtest on USB2 port

and 2 min Later on USB3 port

Showing 5Ghz and 433/433 in Windows.

Also on USB3 it disconnects completely for a few seconds "no internet" and then it is back...

Is there any chance I can figure out, if this is a mainboard/usb-chipset problem, or a T2U problem?

Quick Update. I connected a cheap USB Spliter cable (Y-Cable with hub functionality), the Archet T2U works on USB2 and USB3 port on that cable. Currentl with full speed, even under load. That is strange....

I am using this cable from amazon: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B094NKTT1Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF

So now I can connect T2U and Unifying receiver to my laptop.

But wish there was a solution to directly use the USB3 port.

@Bigfoot82  If the adapter works with the USB 3.0 on the USB cable , can you check if other devices works fine on your computer USB 3.0?

Please also check if there is available driver for the USB port. At the same time, I would like to follow up your case through email and escalate your case, please check your inbox later, thank you.

@Solla-topee the USB Splitter seems to be USB2, so that may be the reason why it works, even on the USB3 Port.

Today the new driver crashed/disconnected even on USB2, but recovered after a about 30 seconds. And this was a one time event.

https://static.tp-link.com/beta/2021/202108/20210830/RTLWlanU_WindowsDriver_1030.44.0531.2021_Drv_3.00.0036.L(49547).zip

Connecting a USB3 HDD reads writes fine on the USB3 port, even with high data rates. So I don't think the port has an issue. More like the T2U or driver is unstable.
