you posted I have WA 730 RE V 1 = 7 units and it running ok so that means your security is WEP, if that is your case, rule out that one, config.. your TL-WA730RE V2 as you did then connect a Lap via Lan cable, disable wireless, and if you have internet means every thing its perfect, if so, i found out that TL-WA730RE V2 only does wireless repeating with WPA security, its not a rule, but could be your issue

I have the same problem

I replace the TL-WA730RE V1, with a new one TL-WA730RE V2 with the most recent and unique firmware ( i gift the first one), i follow the guides for configure it in repeater mode, and doesnt work properly.


* my router is a router/dsl with ip 192 .168.1.254 (thompson modelo TG585V7 ), with WPA2 Security (i try too, with wep, and without any security)

* my extensor TL-WA730RE V2 have ip 192.168.1.253, in universal repeater mode, with wpa/wpa2 personal selected,

* Is possible ping trought the wireless from TL-WA730RE V2 (192.168.1.253 ) to router/dsl (192.168.1.254) and viceversa.

* even is possible navigate on internet with utp cable conected to the range extender and the wifi disabled of my lap

until here all seems ok

* When i try to connect with wireless the problem arise, if i'm able of connect the connection is made to the router (because the light in the range extender of extensor link is off) the internet is down, and i lost the link with the range extender.

* Same with any other device smartphone or tablet (no wireless connection )

* when i disable all wireless devices the range extender and router can stablish link again.

* The only change was the range extender version (new one), same router, same place, all is the same.

* If i try use wds instead of universal repeater no link between router and extender

* I see that other users have similar issues with the new one version.

* I already try changing channel of transmition of my router

* I try too with every security: no one, WEP, WPA/WPA2, exactly same results.

* Now i cant buy the earlier version that works without problem, just new version in the streets

I have almost the same problem..:( Bought a WA730RE V2, it has the newest firmware, but i can't extend the range of my WR340GD router. I set anything correct (IP address, security, etc.), but the 730 only connects to the 340 when i have no wilreless security on both devices, the the range extender led is on. But with wireless security enabled (no matter which one) i cant even ping the 340 from the 730...

I see nobody has a solution....:(
The tech support also has not responded in a week.. im very sad, i gave out a lot of money for a device that is not working properly.
Maybe i could have been buy a cheaper range extender but i thought tp-link works with another tp-link device with no problems....

The problem was the MAC Address Filtering. I had it on both on the wr340 router and on the wa730 extender.
Then i disabled it in my router for other reasons, and the range extender connected immediately.
When i enabled the MAC filtering in my router: no connection.
2 solution available: no MAC filtering at all, or: MAC filtering only in the range extender.

i just bought TL-WA730RE v2 and i had it upgraded to latest firmware.
I successfully configuring wa730re (set to 192.168.2.200/24) to connect to my router (192.168.2.1/24 with WPA2-Personal wireless security) as universal repeater.
Wa730re able to ping to router and vice versa, PC can connect to internet via wa730re ethernet port (wireless disabled).
After a while, the connection between wa730re and router become disconnected.
Wa730re and router can not ping each other although the range extender LED indicator in wa730re still lits.
I tried changing wireless security on router using WPA-Personal but same issue appears. After a while, the extender and router become disconnected.
Is my product defective or is this firmware issue?
Do you, guys, have similar issue?
