WA701ND as repeater kills internet throughput

Region : UnitedKingdom
Model : TL-WA701ND
Hardware Version : V2
Firmware Version : Latest from TPL website
ISP : BT Broadband
Would be grateful for anyone's input on a repeater problem.
I have BT Broadband (4mbps) - reliable and stacks up via speedtest.
Original config:
BT Homehub 2: 192.168.1.254
Mix of wired and wireless (WPA) clients.
New config (to extend range throughout home):
BT Homehub 2: Static 192.168.1.254
DHCP on
TL-WA702ND: Static 192.168.1.250 in universal repeater mode.
DHCP off
SSID and WPA Key match BT homehub.
Clients can connect fine wirelessly to both access points.
Wired clients connect direct to BT Homehub 2.
but: throughput is terrible now. Less than 0.1 mbps.
Even the wired client direct to the BT Homehub is the same.
BT download speed still at 4mps but performance not usable.
Almost as if something is routing wrong or in circles.......
Any ideas - most grateful.
Thanks

Maybe but the menu selections in the router sections only list devices with model numbers WR (router) and the TL-WA702ND is a WA and only listed in the wireless access point forum menu.
.
Have tried to repost but I would have to chose the wrong model to post in the router section.
Any advice helpful.
Thanks

Model, reads TL-WA701ND
and on post reads TL-WA702ND: Static 192.168.1.250 in universal repeater mode.

Also WR702ND (either in client mode or in repeater mode) kills Internet throughput
2013-04-25 22:39:06
Configuring WR702ND via Quick setup as repeater or as AP client is resulting in the desiredt connectivity between end-stations and an Internet router AP. However the WR702ND's throughput capacity is very unstable. Once every minute or less the traffic flow degrades dramatically and even the router's LAN port disconnects / reconnects. Speedtest shows that the Internet throughput decreases from 10 Mbps to less than 1 Mbps..This symptom seems to be related with the problem reported here.

Even the wired client direct to the BT Homehub is the same.
If you unplug TL-WA701ND and try it again with your BT Homehub, can you get normal throughput like before? Are there much wireless interference?
Try to reset universal repeater on TL-WA701ND!
