Model: Archer VR2800
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 0.7.0 0.9.1 v006c.0 Build 210313 Rel.74106n

Hi all,

Tried to edit Title to read: Changing DNS server

I have an Archer VR2800 running in DSL Modem Router Mode. All is great, however I having problems changing my DNS server from 1.1.1.1 to my Raspberry Pi Adguard on 192.168.1.13

The pi is working correctly, I can set my PC's connection to use it as the DNS server but if I change the DNS server to 192.168.1.13 on the modem, the modem reboots and changes the LAN settings and the local modem IP address, from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.0.1 and therefore all my locally attached devices are messed up.

Why can't I just change the DNS server and all the other settings remain the same? I didn't have this problem with any other modem I'v used.

Thanks.

Many thanks for your reply.

I'm still a little confused...I would need to change the DNS IP in the first or the second place I've marked in red?

@liquidguru

Hi,the previous issue might be caused by the IP conflict.
And I guess the first time you changed the DNS under network>internet?
If you want All LAN clients to use the Pi address as the DNS server, the red spot on the above picture would be the right place to change the DNS server to be Pi-hole.

@TP-Link

Thank you for your reply. Do you mean change it in both red spots in the picture?

You're targeting Primary DNS field.
