Model: TL-WPA8631P KIT
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 3.0.0 Build 20200314 Rel.3608

HELP!

I have just replaced my BT modem router with a Archer VR2100 and none of my brand new (5 of them) TL-WPA8631 devices will allow me to OneMesh with the router.

On the Onemesh option page of the TL-WPA8631 (web GUI) it says that the router doesn't support OneMesh. That's rubbish, of course, as it does according to TP-Link. That's why I purchased them, and the router.

On the VR2100 Gui, the TL-WPA8631P devices all show as available onmesh devices, but when I try and add them on that page I get a popup error that says "Error code 1 : Internal Error"

@Solla-topee this seems to have solved the problem. Thanks.

I assume this will be posted as your support download default?  I can imagine that there will be many others with the same problem and wouldn't want others to waste their time on this as I've had to.... :-)

@Solla-topee

I spoke too soon!

Each of the wpa8631p devices shows themselves as belonging to the Mesh Network but the VR2100 router doesn’t (now) show the clients. I have tried rebooting the router, no difference. The HW and version of the VR2100 is on the bottom of the second image, before you ask….

Also, the Tether app on my mobile phone (Samsung S20 Ultra, up top date Android 11) shows no mesh devices either.

The VR2100 seems to have rebooted or at least restarted as we’ve lost internet connectivity here on at least one occasion. That’s unusual. Not a provider problem as my PC, which has a LAN connection to the VR2100 showed no (LAN) network when I went to look at it….

@AllanB Hello,

For Modem reboots issue, please try the Beta provided by @TP-Link

If VR2100 still could not see TL-PA8631P as client, I found our senior is following your case via email, please reply the email directly to get more help. Thank you.

@AllanB I have a similar type of problem with my VR600 & two TL-WPA8631P devices. I have found that this procedure works for me, so it may work for you too.

Individually log into the web interface of each TL-WPA8631, click the OneMesh tab then un-click the "Join OneMesh" button to take them out of whatever OneMesh network they think that they are in. Once it has saved the settings, physically unplug each TL-WPA8631 device for a few seconds (also make sure nothing is back-powering it through its pass-through socket). Once you have done all of the TL-WPA8631 devices, physically power off your router - a soft reboot won't work, it has to be physically disconnected from the mains. Wait a couple of seconds, then power it back on again. Once your router comes back online, go Advanced then click on its OneMesh tab & it should now "see" your TL-WPA8631 devices. You can now add them to your OneMesh network as normal. You may have to repeat this procedure if you get a power outage or brownout, as mine can't cope with any kind of power fluctuation or reboot without OneMesh going all wrong.

Good luck...

@JustinSB Thanks for the suggestion but that's WAY too much work for me. We have 6 WPA8631 devices....

Last week the support team at TP-Link UK have sent me some new firmware whichseems to improve the situation. That said, the WPA devices fail to sync Guest network credentials.

Better, but not (totally) fixed.
