Curious about bizarre behavior of TL-PA4010PT(EU)
This is a curious failure. Nothing shows for this adapter in the latest version of the tpPLC utility under Mac or Windows. No lights on the device. BUT, despite this, I can see through the device to the network. So, something is alive.
It gets "better" when I switch to windows with the old version of the powerline utility, the one illustrated in all of the manuals. When I run that, I get a response under Local Devices. But I get a device password of MLPB-YLQM-YSSL-BMBB which is not even close to what is printed on the adapter. The screen also shows an incomplete firmware version of "200A". The MAC address comes back to Atheros, which I believe is the Ethernet IC. It also shows "Unknown" for the network name. But this phantom device cannot be flashed and cannot be reset or accessed in any way. There is, as far as I can tell, no hardware reset switch, only the pairing switch. I'm curious, is there a fuse inside this device which may have blown? Obviously, part of the circuit is working as the connection through it accurately detects other powerline devices on the network. Anyone seen a failure like this?
