Model: Archer C9
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.3.1 Build 20171215 rel.35219

5GHZ band randomly resets and drops connection for anything connected to it. The 2.4GHZ band can be switched to and will still work. This happens at least once a day, if not more, at seemingly random times. There is no issue with the power adapter (it's the original), and I tried it on its own outlet, but that did not help, in case it were an issue.

(NOTE: This also happened to a v1 version of the same router for me that I could only make work by going to a previous firmware. I do not want to do that since the latest for v3 had a security fix.)

Is there a later beta after 2018 for this router that fixes this issue?

This results in this set of errors in the log (note the weird dates of 1970 and 2017):

Re:Archer C9 v3 - Drops 5GHZ band, Log Errors

@zerbrechen

May I know what kind of devices failed to connect to the 5G network? Was there some specific device that lose the connection, or this happens randomly on all the devices?

When some devices lose the connection, are they far away from the router? Is the signal not good? Try to run a Wi-Fi analyzer to verify which 5G channel is clearer, then try the channel, you can also change the channel width to 40MHz, change security to WPA/WPA2-Personal, WPA2-PSK/AES, then reboot it and confirm.

Is the internet LED on the C9 always green? Who is your ISP?

@Kevin_Z Thanks for the reply!

May I know what kind of devices failed to connect to the 5G network?

Any and all types of devices: laptops may stay connected to the router but show 'no internet connection', cellphone (iphone) drop the connection altogether, chromecasts drop the connection altogether

Was there some specific device that lose the connection, or this happens randomly on all the devices?

Nothing specific, seems it affects anything connected

When some devices lose the connection, are they far away from the router? Is the signal not good?

Signal is good in every room that access the router, this can happen on a device connected in the same room as the router, does not make a difference

Try to run a Wi-Fi analyzer to verify which 5G channel is clearer, then try the channel, you can also change the channel width to 40MHz, change security to WPA/WPA2-Personal, WPA2-PSK/AES, then reboot it and confirm.

I've changed channels and it makes no difference, but I guess I can try changing the width; security was already on those as well - no difference.

Is the internet LED on the C9 always green? Who is your ISP?

The LEDs stay normal (no orange light); ISP is Verizon FIOS in the US

Thanks for any more help with this!
