Why are firmware versions released at different times?

Why can't they all be released at the same time, like with iOS?
It seems like 1.5.2 gets released much later on X20 than on M5. I have the M5, M9 and X20 and they all get released at different times....

I don’t think they can do that otherwise who would give up such an excellent idea.
Guess routers have some special limitation and could not be developed based on same platform;
Do you happen to find any router brand could do that?

Related question - is there a way to get notification of a firmware update for a particular Deco model?
(Either email or via the App would be nice!)

The new firmware will be notified by Deco APP.
But based on my experience, TP-Link released the firmware to different users in different time so not all of us will receive the new firmware notification in the first place;
Checking their official websites regularly would be a workaround;
