Solution [Solution] Deco M4 supports Band 4 on 5 GHz for Bangladesh users
Background:
Some customers from Bangladesh reported that the mobile devices only work with band 4 (channel 149-165) on 5 GHz, which requires the Deco mesh 5 GHz to work on band 4 channels. The new shipping Deco devices to Bangladesh have a built-in band 4-supported firmware 1.4.1 Build 20200714 Rel. 47859 now.
For the previous stock with generic firmware 1.4.3 Build 20200918 Rel.74289 or 1.4.1 Build 20200721 Rel. 24433 which did not support band 4, there has been a beta version (1.4.3 Build 20210324 Rel. 63599 for V2, 1.4.3 Build 20210317 Rel.03630 for V1). If you are located in Bangladesh and purchased the Deco M4 from the local/online store, please contact local tech support to request the beta firmware that supports band 4 on 5 GHz.
Solutions:
Some of you may still be confused, especially when there is a newer firmware 1.5.0 Build 20210511 Rel. 34580, whether you need to update or not, will it support band 4, etc., we will explain as follows:
1. For the products with 1.4.1 Build 20200714 Rel. 47859 or beta 1.4.3 Build 20210324 Rel. 63599, it is OK to update to the latest 1.5.0 version, and it will keep supporting band 4, you will also get the new features supported on the latest version.
2. For the products with generic firmware 1.4.3 Build 20200918 Rel.74289, it is not recommended to update to the 1.5.0 directly after onboarding, please contact the local tech support to request the beta firmware that supports band 4 on 5 GHz first, then update to the latest 1.5.0 version.
3. If you have updated to the 1.5.0 already from the generic 1.4.3 Build 20200918 Rel.74289 and noticed that the new 1.5.0 still does not support band 4 on 5 GHz, you might need to run a firmware recovery first, then install the beta firmware. Here are the detailed suggestions:
- Contact local tech support to request the beta firmware that supports band 4 on 5 GHz first.
- Please refer to this link to run a firmware recovery firmware on Deco M4, How to use firmware recovery if the Deco become brick
- Install the beta firmware you have got from the local support.
- Then update to the latest official 1.5.x firmware from the beta version.
Note: If you are NOT located in Bangladesh, nor you require the support for band 4 on 5 GHz, DON'T update to the beta firmware 1.4.3 Build 20210324 Rel. 63599, otherwise, you will no longer get the 5 GHz signal if your mobile devices don't even work on band 4.
If you have any further issues, please feel free to let me know.

@TP-Link Hi there,
One of my Deco M4 is from a previous shipment that didn't come with band 4 support & Another one is purchased later which already came with band 4 support. So, I've upgraded both of them with the provided beta firmware (1.4.3 Build 20210317 Rel. 03630) from Tp-Link BD support. Can I upgrade them to (1.5.2 Build 20210916 Rel. 56193) ??
Note: Both of them are V2 (labeled bottom sticker) but after upgrading to beta they seem to show as V1. At this time both of them have a working 5Ghz network !!

Hi, thank you very much for getting back to me.
Yes, since you are already on the beta firmware which supported band 4, you could upgrade to 1.5.2 directly and after firmware upgrade, it will still support band 4 for 5ghz.

@TP-Link Hi thanks for your reply!
So, I've tried to update both of my units via the Deco app & Web GUI online upgrade, both of them failed! They showed Updating> Installing> Rebooting but they actually never reboot & when I go back to check the version it stays the same (1.4.3 Build 20210317 Rel. 03630). But if I manually try to update via Web GUI local upgrade it shows "Upgrade failed. Please select the latest version of firmware to upgrade." It is the latest version I've downloaded from the tp-link website (M4R 2.0_1.5.2 Build 20210916 Rel. 56193)!
I think maybe this is happening because both of my units show as V1 but they are actually V2 before flashing beta firmware. How do I upgrade them?

@TP-Link Finally it worked !! Now both of my units are on "1.5.2 Build 20210916 Rel. 56193" & Band 4 5Ghz working fine.
For users who came to the party late & facing the same problem as me, update to this firmware first then upgrade to the latest version.

@TP-Link It seems like my units aren't getting any updates anymore. Firmware 1.5.4_220113 has been released on the USA (US) site on 14 February. On the other hand, a few days later INDIA (EU) site released it too. But my Deco units (EU) still say they are up-to-date. Bangladesh site doesn't have a dedicated Firmware section so I've to visit other countries' sites. What is happening?
