Can't get Deco M9 v1 into recovery mode to downgrade firmware.

Model: Deco M9 Plus
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.51

I have 2 m9 v1 decos and like many other have had a severely unstable network since upgrading to firmware version 1.51. I'm trying to downgrade to the previous version of the software using these instructions: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/2958/

However the unit does not seem to be going into recovery mode. I hold the reset button when plugging in and it will flash green for a moment then go to solid red. I have gotten it to consistently flash green once, but still could not connect. I also think the IP addresses used in the link above don't apply to the M9, as I found the only one that did seem to almost connect was http://192.168.68.1

I was able to get the background of the welcome screen to load, but the interface just stalled at a spinning wheel for about 10 miutes before I gave up.

Any suggestions before I bin these things?

@computerLarry

Hi, have you checked whether your case is the same as this link:

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/266974

If yes, you could try to update the firmware here so we do not need firmware recovery;

Thank you very much.
