Model: RE450
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.0.2 Build 20201203

Hello,

I am having signal drop out issue since I got my TP Link Repeater RE450. I tried hard reset and still i got problem with it. Right now my 2.4 Ghz is working fine but my phone is not connecting to 5Ghz. It is showing “No internet Connection”. Subnet Mask (IPV4 address) on the phone shows 255.255.0.0 on 5Ghz but shows 255.255.255.0 on 2.4Ghz. 5Ghz is using Channel 36 and 2.4Ghz is using Channel 1. Repeater is connected to my main router which is TP Link Archer C50. Is there anyway anyone can help me out ?

Thank you.

@Amoghh Good day,

It looks like your phone is not connected to the correct wifi (not Re's wifi) Please make sure RE is using different SSIDs from main router to isolate the issue and RE is using different SSIDs on 2.4Ghz / 5Ghz.

Turn off the mobile data on that cell phone and double check the IP addresss.

Please use a laptop or a different phone connect to RE's 5Ghz, is it the same issue?

Can you connect to RE's 5Ghz Wi-Fi and send us a photo of IP & gateway address ?Thank you.

@Solla-topee

Thank you for replying.
Okay Will try creating different SSID. Right now it has same SSID as the host network which was default selected while configuring RE450 and will try connecting to RE450 5GHz using another phone but 2.4GHz works fine on another phone which is connected to RE450.

I had connected to RE450's 5GHz because I can see the WiFi Address on the system log of RE450.

I have attached the photo which shows the subnet mask showing 255.255.0.0 and no Router IP Address on my phone.

I had contacted Technical Support via Email as well and they told to try this

We request you to hard RESET device with below procedure and then do below Wireless settings into Acret C50  then Configure extender and check.

Reset the device: Directly press and hold the RESET button on the rear panel/panel layout with a pin for approximately 6 to 10 seconds when the device is running. Release the reset button and wait for the device to reboot. If you can see all the lights flashing, then go off and some lights go back on slowly during the process that means the device has been reset successfully.

Wireless setting for Archer C50 5 GHz:
Go to Advance-> Wireless-> Wireless settings and set version to Wpa2-psk, Encryption AES set mode to channel width 80 MHz and channel to  36,40 or 44 alternatively>>Save

I tried the above method told by Technical Support and it didn't work. It worked fine after configuration but today morning it started causing problem again. It connects to the RE450 for 5-10 sec and then disconnects and keeps on trying to connect. My 2.4GHz is working fine like before but still having problems with 5GHz. I have attached the Screen Recording of the issue.

Will try the method you told and will let you know if it works properly.

@Amoghh Hello,

Thank you for your video, you could try a factory reset as local support suggested.

May I know does the 5Ghz issue happen only on your iPhone? Can other devices like your laptops obtain an IP address from RE's 5Ghz wifi?

If only iPhone got the issue, you could set up a static IP for iPhone:

IP: 192.168.X.X (in router subnet)

Subnet mask:255.255.255.0

Router: 192.168.X.X (router's IP)

DNS:8.8.8.8

If all the devices could not connect to RE's 5Ghz, and issue persists after a factory reset, it could be a hardware issue on the 5Ghz part of this RE.

@Solla-topee Hello,

I tried factory reset many times and it works fine as soon as I configure the device but the problem starts after a day.

Right now I cannot connect to my 5GHz on my Macbook and iPhone but it seems to work on my mums iPhone but takes a lot of time to connect. I don't have any other 5GHz device to connect.

All i can try now is Factory reset and use different SSID and see if 5GHz works fine.
