Archer C80 - Autonegotiate syncs with 1000/1000 ONU from service provider at only 100/100
I have just purchased a new Archer C80 Wi-Fi Router (I needed the gigabit ports (WAN and LAN ports) as my fibre speed was upgraded to 200/100mbps and my old router was only 100/100 on WAN and LAN).
When I setup the router, the Internet Port Negotiation Setting was by default "Auto Negotiation" which was also correct according to my fibre ISP. After long "fights" with the ISP they ensisted that the issue is with my router as their tests showed that my router is limiting the speed to 100mb/s and does not sync at 1000mb/s ONU (my Internet download speed should be 200mb/s).
The max speed it syncs with Internet is 100mb/s up and down while my Internet speed should be 200mb/s (with 100mb/s upload). This was with Auto Negotiation setting.
After some ups and downs and checks, I went against the ISP prescriptions and set the Internet Port Negotiation Setting to 1000Mbps/Full Duplex and although my router took almost 5 minutes to logon/syn, it worked!
So my question: How can I see if my router is "faulty" on Auto Negotiation or is the ISP's ONU linked to the fibre line faulty?
Or should I change something on the router to make the Auto Negotiation work as per the ISP setup instructions (and the default of the router).
Any ideas? Thanks for your help!
