  @Solla-topee They've finally added the disable DHCP server option in the latest firmware :)

https://static.tp-link.com/upload/firmware/2022/202204/20220420/TL-WPA8631P(EU)_V3_220330.zip

I hope it works, because the constant disconnects have been killing me..

Is this firmware available for the 9610? If so can you please direct me to the link? Thank you.

Hello   @BiggySmall  thank you for asking, I do not see the beta for TL-WPA9610 right now, I will record your request for further evaluation. If there is any beta or new firmware released, I will update on the page one of this thread.

  @Nor7on Great news, thank you for the sharing!

@Gantolandon @Cecil_ @BobBrown

TL-WPA8631P_V3(EU/UK) official firmware has newly added DHCP server configuration function.

The firmware or latest beta should help with improving stability if the cause is smart DHCP server, feel free to let us if this helps with the situation. If that's not the case, please also start a new thread for unstable concern and provide some case details so we could help look into that further.

Once we support get updated information with firmware release or new beta, we will update on Page one of this threadgo the first page to check if there is any new firmware that you could give it try first, thank you.

  @Solla-topee I thought I'd check in to see if there was any progress on this very long running issue for the WPA4220 V5

Sadly (but not unexpectedly) there is no progress.

The beta version you promote at the start of this very long thread DOES NOT WORK.

It does NOT disable the DHCP server when you assign a static IP address. You can see in the logs that it still starts up and immediately starts offering DHCP leases to unsuspecting devices on my network. It then shuts down after about 25 seconds when it realises there is another DHCP server available, but if the link from the powerline network to my wider network is broken for more than a few seconds, the DHCP server starts up again?!?!

Why do you say it's fixed when it clearly isn't? What is the matter with your development team?

*Update*

The WPA4220 V5 May 2022 beta on the first page of this thread finally seems to stop the stupid DHCP behaviour

Sad owner of a TL-WPA4220 here.

Truly amazing just how bad this piece of equipment is compared to all the other TP-Link gear I've owned previously.

What I mean by that is: the piece of equipment works just fine, but there is NEVER an excuse for spawning a rogue DHCP server. Absolutely horrible design, and absolutely horrible response from TP-Link to literal years of problem reports.

Edited to add:

1. I don't have a lot of money, so buying a piece of equipment which is broken in this way negatively impacts me.

2. I live in an area with frequent power outages, and every time one happens, if the device is plugged in, it causes unpredictable impacts to my entire network.

Truly unbelievable this hasn't been fixed once and for all, preferably by ripping the "smart DHCP" feature completely out of the firmware.

  @Solla-topee

And still no updated firmware for the TL-WPA8630P V2 that switches off the DHCP....

TP Link Support wrote in email saying it would be delivered in March 2022....

Still a pile of unusable cr*p sat in my house waiting for the so called Support team to get their act together.
