@Hexomedia  Thank you for your feedback, if the phenomenon on your devices is the same as described as Page 1 of this thread, you should give a try on the existing beta.

That does not permanently turn DHCP, but it may do some help after setting up a static IP on the wireless powerline unit if smart DHCP is the one to be blamed.

@Solla-topee

rather stupidly I actually bought a TP-Link AV1300 pair, a TL-8010p and a TL-8030p to replace the BT mini connectors..... the problem is that the WPA8630p ... AND even the newer WPA8631p devices are dud and exhibit the same stupid behaviour. So Thanks to TP-Links indifference and lack of care I have wasted a lot of cash on garbage at present and TP-Link will no doubt never actually fix the firmware thinking they are so large they can afford to ignore the bad impact as they have their cash and couldn't care less about the customers...  this thread on firmware is showing that.

WHY don't you just release firmware that allows people to turn off "smart DHCP"?

Your "smart DHCP" is not smart, as it is disturbing our networks. The solution could be so simple: a simple check box ("turn off DHCP").

@Jvmd

I'd be happy if they just issued firmware that binned the whole DHCP stuff completely... the old AV600 wifi stuff worked well but tje new stuff is A grade junk.

@Solla-topee   I have a  WPA8630P  but is hardware Version: V1,    is there a beta firmware for this model to turn off the smart DHCP,   or does the v1 not contain the DHCP feature?

Hi @Andy_W thank you for asking, some models are listed on page one of this thread, if that start with V2, V3, that means previous version does not use has a smart DHCP.

TL-WPA8630(P) V1 does not have a smart DHCP, if it does not work stable, you may start a new thread here with detailed description including the House Led status etc.

Hey everyone,

We released the new beta for model TL-WPA4220 V5 (US), and TL-WPA7617 V1 (EU)

The new beta allows turning off Smart DHCP completely by manually setting up a static IP.( power off PLC does not affect existing static IP =DHCP off settings)

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/265692?page=1

If you owe the above models, please give it a try and let us know if it helps with the concern, phenomena described on page1

For other models, country version, hardware versions, the estimated date is not confirmed, please keep an eye on the update on this thread, I will let you know for anything new.

@Solla-topee

So where are TP-Link then on getting a fix for the DHCP so it can be switched OFF and the device act as a normal WiFi and ethernet powerline extender?

Looking on the actual device support pages shows NOTHING just the original Firmware and no mention of the the problems that people are getting or of the Beta Firmware even.

Hello  @PC_60 TL-WPA8630P or TL-WPA8631P new beta firmware has not released yet. Some old beta firmware are listed on Page 1 of the thread here. If  the  'cause' is smart DHCP,  the old beta should also help improve performance until your power off the powerline device. To better assist with your concern, I created a support email for you to confirm some case details and escalate your case.

@Solla-topee I hope there's a TL-WPA4220 V5 EU build really soon, I'm coming week at a location with this HW and could really use the fix as they routinely unplug the devices, which enables smart DHCP again. Pretty please ;)

thanks

EDIT: some feedback from running 1.0.1 Build 210209 Rel.62933n (6985)

1) despite set as static IP, they still request an IP from DHCP

2) the DHCP server has a lease set for 23 hours but the WPA4220 ask an address every 30 seconds (this is with static IP set)
