[Solution] Archer VR2100 Auto Reboot issue
This Article Applies to:
Archer VR2100_V1, Archer VR600_V3
Issue Description/Phenomenon:
Some Customers reported that the Archer VR2100/VR600 may suffer from random reboots automatically several times a day, or multiple times a week. They found all the LEDs on the front of the VR2100/VR600 will flash in a little bit, and the Wi-Fi network of the modem disappears at that time, no device can get online at that period.
Solution:
The official firmware has been released to fix this issue and please make sure your firmware is up to date.
Please leave me a private message for notification if the firmware does not fix your issue.
Thank you very much.

VR2100 firmware has been stable for me since version 210618. Now counting uptime in days rather than hours.

Still looking good with 210619 on the VR2100. Now at 9 days without a restart. Still getting packet errors (343 up and 59 down).

@david-m 9 days here too with zero errors. I assume your packet errors are just noise on your link.

Still getting random reboots on the VR600. It's difficult to work out how many as the reboot counter cannot be reset so it is currently at 79 but I still have the nightly scheduled reboot set as advised by support. It just rebooted now and I've been aware of about 10 reboots since loading the new (210623)_2021-06-23_15.56.38 firmware.
From messages above, it seems to have fixed the VR2100 - would be interested in whether other VR600 users are still finding issues?
I'll return this now for refund as I cannot afford these constant reboots and tp-link just cannot seem to fix it.

@TP-Link I am having the same issue with my Archer VR2100 v1 using 1.4.0 0.9.1 v009e.0 Build 201122 Rel.72659n firmware. Can you please let me know if the Beta firmware you have linked is compatible with a UK (EU) device? I am using a VDSL connection to Plusnet in the UK. Thanks.

@Steve_A - hi Steve. Yes I am like you on Plusnet (via John Lewis) in the UK with VDSL. I do have a VR600 not a 2100 but the new beta firmware is available for both models. Other people on this thread have reported no reboots on the 2100 since loading the beta firmware so good luck to you...
I am also speaking directly to TP-Link engineers seperately in a support case and they did advise me to factory reset my box to remove any previous firmware before loading the latest beta. Since doing this, the box has been up 3 days without a reboot so I think this may be a very important step to complete first and I would recommend it.

@AntonyM Hi Anthony, thank you for your reply. It is reassuring to know that it seems to have improved your situation.
I have been having issues with the copper part of my service as well, so I had to revert to the Plusnet supplied router. Openreach took two attempts but eventually fixed my line problems. I was very disappointed when I reinstated my Archer and the line started disconnecting again. However this time the WiFi was dropping too and a check of the log files shows the router was rebooting. I will try the beta firmware in the next couple of days and hopefully my instability issues will be athing of the past ;-)
