One Deco has slow speeds
I am having a peculiar problem. I have one M4 connected to the main router via ethernet cable (Firmware version 1.4.3 Build 20200918 Rel 74289) and 3 satellite E4s (Firmware version 1.4.3 Build 20200918 Rel 44982). All the E4s are connected wirelessly to the main M4. Periodically, one of the E4s (always located at the same spot) gives slow speeds. The speeds are usually restored by rebooting or resetting and reconnecting. I have tried switching the E4s, but the slow speeds happen at the same location regardless of the unit. The signal source of that E4 is the main M4 deco. The signal source of the problematic E4 is the main M4 and the signal strength is good (connected on both 2.5 and 5 GHz bands). Please find below the floor plan:

Hi, thanks for the map and now it is much clear where each Deco is;
May I know how much speed you could get from this Deco 2? How about the rest of the Deco units when testing via the same client?
Since all E4s performed the same on this location, it might not be related to Deco but the location is not too far comparing with Deco 3 and 4;
How about the placement of Deco on this location:?
Make sure every Deco unit is properly placed, do not put them into closets, TV cabinets, or any kind of enclosed space. Put them in an open space if you can;
Thank you.

@TP-Link Decos 1 to 3, we normally get around 130Mbps. Our internet connection is 150Mbps. On Deco 4, we get around 70 Mbps, which is acceptable as the signal source is not the main Deco. Every week or so, the speed of Deco 2 falls to 30 Mbps. We have to reboot or reset and reconnect in order to restore the speed. All the Decos are in the open.
Is there a way to manually set the signal source for each of the satellites?

Hi, the future firmware 1.6.0 would allow this feature.
Deco E4 just released firmware 1.5.1 and it might still need some time;
Have you ever noticed the signal source would change to another Deco when the speed declined?
Thank you.

@TP-Link No. It always shows the main Deco as the signal source in the Deco App. Next time, it slows down, I will remain on that screen for a longer time and check again. Another nice feature in the Deco app would be an option to re-optimize the network.

@TP_LINK is it save to update the E4s to the Apr-21 firmware when the main M4 is on the Oct-20 firmware?

Hi, it Is ok.
But since the main Deco is M4, so when you update the firmware, you might need to find the IP address of each satellite Deco and log into the web UI of E4 to update the firmware;
Thank you.
