Archer AX20 V1 - Unusable 5Ghz
I got the router 3 days ago, the LAN connection is working fine and the 2.4Ghz band is also working fine but the 5ghz one is unusable. For the first time i set it up (i disabled Smart Connect) it wouldn't even show up in the connections list in any my devices. With smart connect on all my devices showed up on 2.4ghz. I left it for about a day and tried again, rebooted a few times, now it shows up but it works very poorly. I get up tp 500Mbs but than it abruptly falls to 1Mb with a ping of 700ms and than no internet for a few minutes than it works again for a short time.
Any suggestions?

Are you verifying it at one device or more? Can you show us signal 5GHz band level at yours devices?

@jimas I tested it so far on my phone, mac, and ipad and all have full signal strength for both the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands

Change the wireless mode to 802.11 a/n/ac mixed for 5GHz band :
\
If the issue persists then maybe the wireless interference in your areas is substantial:
Install on your phone "wi-fi analyzer" app and search for the less crowded channel, then set in in your 5GHz band.
If the issue is gone then your devices have a problem with AX wi-fi standard:
Update the iOS on your phone and wi-fi adapters drivers on your mac to the latest version and test with 802.11 a/n/ac/ax mixed mode again..

Thank you for your input but it didn't work. I've tried limiting even to only "a/n" but no difference except much slower speeds. I am fairly certain that it's not the interference since there is only one other house close to me and my previous router worked fine. I tried also changing the channel a couple of times, same result. I've look on this forum and seen that there are other people with similar problem with the same router. I picked a couple solutions from there like changing the wifi name, channel width, disabling the 2.4 band, restarting the router after every change (which is annoying since its cutting the internet to the cable for a short period) but still no positive results.

How about the 5G guest network, is it working properly?
As for the wireless settings on the AX20, please change the wireless security to WPA2-PSK, AES, then reboot the router, connect to the wireless network again to confirm.

@Kevin_Z The same behavior happens to the guest network.
After switching to WPA2-PSK and rebooted, the 5Ghz stopped appearing in the Wifi list on all my devices (the 2.4 one showed up) and after a few minutes of refreshing, it appeared again but its way slower than before. Yesterday I was getting 300 to 500 Mbps on 5ghz and 800+ from cable, and after switching to WPA2-PSK i'm getting at most 130 from 5ghz and still 800+ from cable. I tried multiple times with the same local servers as yesterday. I guess it an improvement since it seams to not drop anymore but it's not really that much faster thant the 2.4Ghz band in which i was getting around 80Mbs.
