they are so lazy on fixing their AX50 so they released a brand new AX53 as a whole with the new Firmware to stop connectivity from dropping out for 129.99. in other words you have to pay for a new Firmware fix and replace the new AX50 i have had for a year. i hate lazy Manufacturers. i cannot get a refund for my AX 50 from very just because TPLINK screwed up.

TP-Link Archer AX50 Next-Gen WiFi 6 Gigabit Dual Band Wireless Cable Router, WiFi Speed up to 2402Mbps/5GHz+574Mbps/2.4GHz, 8 Gigabit LAN Ports, Ideal for Gaming Xbox/PS4/Steam & 4K/8K : Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

if you go to the Firmware support for AX53 you can see they released their supposedly AX50 fix that we are all having issues with AX50 for their brand new AX53... what a con... if you go to AX50 firmware support you can see they never bothered to fix anything for the AX50. and i paid the same price last year for AX50. iam dissapointed.

i'd recommend buying an ASUS or netgear or something else if a manufacture like tplink likes to screw customers over.

@Kevin_Z For me, it was the priority. When I disabled it, both fast and speedtest report 980Mbs, and previously 25Mbs. Thanks.

@vlatkoB Thank you for your advise, finally something worked. I spent half day with reading, trying and factory reseting. You´re a star!

I too have been scratching my head wondering why my gigabit connection over HFC (Australia) suddenly dropped from ~900Mbps to ~300.

I've had NBN out twice as well as TPG my ISP to check and none of them could find anything wrong.

It's only when I just tried to transfer a large amount of information between devices that I noticed the transwer speed was suspiciously the same as my download internet speed and wondered if it was the router.

I manually entered the download and upload speeds and removed QoS priority into the router and I am now seeing ~900Mbps again!

Thank you to whoever put this fix up.

I bought my "Archer AX50" a few years ago and it has been working properly and constantly since then. However, from this week I realized my internet connect become slower and went from: 700 Mbps into 90Mbps (Ethernet) and 350 Mpbs into 90 Mbps (the same "90 Mbps" wired or wireless).

I tried different methods to identify the problem:

  • [Failed] Manually configuring the "QoS"
    • (x) Setting "999 Mbps" as the max bandwidth
    • (x) Removing priorities from my devices
    • (x) Changing between modes (Standard, Gaming, Streaming, Surfing, Chatting, Custom)
  • [Failed] Checked the firmware version and l am using the latest one (previous one was released in 2011)
  • [Failed] Restored all the configuration to the default (factory settings)
  • [Failed] Tried different jacks from the internet provider modem and different Ethernet cables

Playing around with the configuration of the "Archer AX50", there was one view (couldn't find it anymore ha!) that showed me that my interview provider modem was using "100 Mbps full duplex" which seemed "Odd" and "Strange" because I haven't changed my settings in a while (a few years already).

Looking for the available options, I found "System Tools" -> "System Parameters" -> "Internet Port Negotiation Speed Setting". I changed the value to "1000 Mbps Full Duplex" to force the maximum speed (i.e. I have a 1Gbps internet connection) and this setting made the trick, my internet connection went back to normal (I also tried "Auto Negotiation" and it also worked for me).

Note: You need to choose "Advanced" in order to see the "System Tools" tab in the left side of the page.

Note: This screenshot represents the wired connection (Ethernet), but I also noticed a speed increase using wireless connection (a max of 512 Mbps on a Pixel 6 Pro, Android 13, 5GHz wifi).

Hope this help other people in the same situation, good luck!

Ok, this is getting ridiculous. I have the same problem, perhaps a litltle worst. 950mbps when connecting to my verizon modem... only 23mpbs when connecting to my TP link. VIA CAT5!! Don't even ask wireless wise... Quos turned off, and everything else... Tech came (Verizon) he basically laugh, telling this router is a joke. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
